I've been posting plays in a seperate thread this week. After laboring over a list of about 14 possible plays I narrowed it down to 8 that I feel very comfortable with. I ended up going with 6 dogs, all that I feel have an excellent shot at winning straight up. An 2 favorites. I'm not playing any of them seperately just all 8 in a $50 parlay to win $7,500. Not smart but hey go big or go home right? Here are my plays with a short explanation for each.
Temple +4 vs. Western Michigan: I don't feel that Western Michigan has shown anything to warrant being favoried at all in this game let alone by more that a field goal. It must just be be the name Temple that is getting this line. Temple blew out Army at Army in the first game of the year, after that they had a last second lost vs. UCONN and the following week a last second lost @ Buffalo. They got blown out last week but that was @ a dominant Penn St. Two weeks ago Western Michigan gave up tons of points and for the majority of the game struggled against a pathetic Idaho team. Temple will win this straight up.
Cincinatti -10.5 @ Akron: Not much to say about this one. Cincinatti will overpower an Akron team that struggled at Army. They turned the ball over and settled for field goals. There will be more turn overs and less scoring against this Cincy team and they win handily.
Houston +10.5 @ East Carolina: Houston is much better than their record will indicate. All three of their losses were very tight, and that includes a game @ OK St. Houston can put points up in large quantities and will hold East Carolina. This is a game I see going down to the final minutes in the fourth quarter.
Notre Dame -1 vs. Purdue: Not quite sure why this line is where it is. Notre Dame is playing at home where they are dangerous and Purdue has not proven much. They lost an overtime game at home to an Oregon team that has shown they are not as good as expected, and besides that there's not much. Notre Dame had a lot of turnovers last week that hurt them in Michigan St. terratory, I believe they rectify that and win fairly handily.
Alabama +6.5 @ Georgia: Basically I think Alabama is being overlooked a little by people and Georgia is over-ranked. Alabama is one of the best teams in the country in my opinion and has a good shot at the national title game. Sabban has turned that program around real fast and I see them winning straight up.
Northwestern +8.5 @ Iowa: I just see this line as being too large. Iowa hasnt proven much, Northwestern won on the road against a formidable Duke team. I just see 8.5 points as too many points to lay in what should be a low scoring grind it out Big-10 battle.
Buffalo +7 @ Central Michigan: Buffalo is like Temple. No respect because of the past. Luckily for me people remember the past but this game is being held in the present so I get a line like this! Buffalo gave Missouri all it wanted and more last week until late in the game. Meanwhile Central Michigan has shown me nothing that warrants a line of this size.
and finally.................
Memphis +2 vs. Arkansas St.: Now I know that most people are going to be against me on this one....as evidence by the line movement already. But Memphis has shown some fight and at home I think they get this win. Memphis's only bad loss was to a good Mississippi team in Mississippi. They played Rice very close, and almost won @ Marshall. This team can score and plays fair defense. People are giving too much credit to Arkansas St. just because they beat Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee (who beat Maryland). Texas A&M has proven to be a bad team and they were probably thinking they were better than they were and looking past Arkansas St. Middle Tennessee is not good. Maryland is horrible away from home and lets face it Middle Tennessee St got really lucky there. Memphis will win this game. This is one of those games I usually dont bet because it's a scary play, but everything tells me they are gonna win so I am not going to give myself the opportunity to regret not making this pick.
Well thats it let me know what you think.
