I don't know how eager I am to bet against Harnisch and the senior-laden team that's being given a second chance at the MAC Title after last year's disappointment. I actually like NIU here to win the game and think the line implies that the game will be closer than the outcome will actually be.Comment -

Note: If Ohio can contain Harnish's mobility outside the poket they will win this battle. His ability to break lose and run is the only reason they won last week (77 yards) as was the case in prior games.

See, I think the opposite direction. If I have a number capped much lower than what the books post, I play the over. Oddsmakers are smarter than me -- they know what's up. I think the number is high to lure people into taking the under, when in fact it will land right in the low-70's.Comment -
Dont tell anybody, but i totally agree with pauly poker. Just joking pauly. I had this game right on his number of ohio -3/66. I posted it in lta's thread as a possible large play on ohio at -4. I missed 4, waiting and being greedy thinking pubes would push the line niu's direction. I am def leaning under the 71-71.5 range as i think ohio's def is underrated. A. NI only won 1 of 6 road games by more than a field goal. I played against them a few weeks ago with Ball State getting 16.5 and won easily 38-41.
B. Ohio has played better imo. They beat a good 8-4 Temple team (521 total yards) and hung with 8-4 Rutgers on the road (404 yds to 410 but -2 turnovers).
C. NI is much more 1 dimensional and Solich can coach defense. 22 ppg allowed is pretty damn good for the MAC where track meets break out every weekend.Comment -

Irrelevent because this is not a road game. This is a neutral site game where the crowd will not a one-sided crowd in favor of Ohio. NIU travels quite well, especially where Detroit is only about a 3 hour ride by car from the NIU campus. It's a much longer drive for Ohio fans. Therefore, I would argue you might see a more favorable NIU crowd tonight.

You mention the Temple game above. If you remember, this same Ohio defense gave up 31 points Temple and their snails-pace offense. What do you think the dangerous and fast-paced Huskies will do to this defense on the fast track indoor Ford Field turf?C.
