The point was the comparisons to Stanford being made in this thread and elsewhere. From a broader perspective, neither of these teams ever deserved true consideration for the National Title. Oregon could have bought their way in by stealing a win in Baton Rouge, but that dream was over in Week 1.

Say what you want but in the national championship game in January they lost to Auburn by 3 points on a last second field goal. IF you watched that game then I hope you would agree that both teams looked evenly matched. The SEC team didnt dominate the game whatsoever....but they did win.
