i don't even think about who the public is on...not even for a second when doing this. i don't care if 99.99999% of all gamblers on on one side and the line is moving the other way. took my 2 unit loss with clemson last week...but still pulled out a 9-3 day. i don't bet huge money...only $20 units...but i have been a winning gambler for almost 20 years now not giving 2 shits about the public. until the linesmakers and sharps and public start suiting up and playing in the games...well, i will just leave all this to others.

This isn't the REASON why I would go the other way..

The public is every human on earth. If starfish are wagering they might not be placed into this particular category.

of all the endless talk on these forums about the public, squares etc..., this may be the best statement I have seen on the subject.

The public are all the John Does out there putting small bets on attractive lines, and usually laying chalk.

Sharp money triggered RLM tonight on all 3 games, this is not the public, this is heavy money outweighing the money that 70% of the bettors (PUBLIC) are laying.

                            Thanks.

some people really think there are huge masses of people out there who have no idea wtf is going on at all, yet are dropping tons of $$$ on the games.

                                "The public"?
I laugh at guys who say they are "sharp" because they bet against the public. The funny thing is how they think they are so smart. WHY?
DO you have information in the long term as to how successful betting against the public is???
                                Who is the public?
How do you know the money bet is not from "the sharps"?
What data base do you use? There are several. Do you go by one or many or all.
Do you take the average of them if you use more than one?
Do you trust their data? If so, why?
Do you go by dollars bet or % of bets? Do you know which is which with each data base?
When do you decide the % bet on one team? Early in the week? 5 minutes before the game?
What percentage do you draw the line? 70% on one side? 75%? 80%? 85%? 90%?
What if you say 80% and one side has 79%? DO you still fade the public.
                                I could go on.

I really don't see how fading the public pays off. For every Rams victory over the Saints, there are too many examples of this. I mean, you guys realize a bet is a bet, right? And a cover is a cover, right?

Unless you are some freak at calling underdogs on the moneyline, this whole "fade the public" crap seems overrated. Some poor schmuck who is on fire betting who he thinks he should bet might come here, read all this nonsense, and then start losing money because he out-thought himself and tried to fix what ain't broke.
