Why is Clemson only -8?? against an unranked maryland?

I tried to look through the forum but no one has pointed out or discussed y clemson is only -8????? Maryland is 2-3 and is unranked? Clemson ranked 8th and been beating gd/decent teams at large margin. Last year they beat maryland by 31-7 last year, what makes this game close for this year? -8 only????

Because Maryland lost by 5 at Ga Tech as 14 point Dogs and basically Clemson is just the same as tech. Would not be surprised to see both Tech and Clem lose this week.

Also because Maryland is at home, and has basically owned Clemson recently, going 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games. Still, Clemson is perfect ATS this season, and easily handled Maryland last season. Pass.
