HARRY'S WEEK 3 COLLEGE PLAYS (9-4 on season)

I'm gonna post my first play of the week now, because it's a weeknight game. I will be back later in the week to post the rest of my card.

BOISE STATE -19 at TOLEDO

Bookmaker's posting the line at 19 on Wed nite, other sites at 20. Last week I played the Rockets at the Horseshoe and they didn't disappoint. I felt going into the game that they had a "puncher's chance" to pull the outright upset (and that would've been a HUGE upset as the Buckeyes haven't lost to an in-state team in close to 90 years.) This week Toledo is going to look a lot more like Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner. They come into this one on the heels of their most emotional effort in years, then only have a few days to prepare. The Broncos come off a bye. This is another huge out-of-conference game for Boise State (11-2 ATS out of conference, 20-4 ATS away.) Those eye-popping spread results are no fluke. The Broncos only hope to impress BCS voters is to perform out of conference. If they whomp Toledo, after the Rockets played Ohio State tough.....it looks good, right? Hell yeah, and they know it. Last year they pasted Toledo at home, 57-14. This year they'll do close to the same on the road. Don't buck these Broncos!

Cannot see any logic in that whatsoever. 10% more vig to move to a number that's less than 1% more advantageous.

Here's how the rest of Saturday's card looks.....

PENN STATE -7 at TEMPLE

Relatively short number to lay with the better team, in need of a win after last week's beatdown against Alabama. The Nittany Lions seem to run a high-school caliber playbook but they've got the better athletes and should be able to shut down this Owl's attack which has looked proficient against tomato can opponents. Penn State has the better game on the ground and in the air and should cover this one.

COLORADO STATE +7- against COLORADO

Game is being played in Denver, virtually neutral field. The Buffs have not showed much yet this year, losing to Hawaii and Cal. Don't see any reason they should be laying over a TD in this fierce Rivalry. Colorado has had the upper hand in this annual series, but the Rams have a way of keeping it close. 7 of the past 9 have been decided by less than 7. I'll take the points.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS +17 against WISCONSIN

Hats off to these Badgers--they look damn good. That big offensive line of theirs will plow through the Huskies. Northern Illinois can score though. They can move the ball on the ground and in the air. They've scored 40 points in each of their first two games. They won't get that here, but they should put up enough to stay within the generous spread.

KENTUCKY -5- over LOUISVILLE

The Cardinals have looked sluggish out of the gate, barely getting by Weber State and losing to Florida International. This is a tough spot for them to find their mojo. Kentucky has been very tough at home under Coach Joker Phillips. The Cats have a helluva time stealing victories in the tough SEC so they won't let a cupcake like this one elude them. Lay it.

USC -14- against SYRACUSE (***Double Play***)

Gotta believe that USC is due for a big game. They won their first two, but looked a bit lackluster in the process. They're moving the ball but have had a tough time converting yards into points. Kiffin is gonna start feeling the heat unless he gets his boys playing better. Big time scheduling advantage for the Trojans in this one. It's their third straight home game to start the season. The Orange have to make the long trip west after barely surviving URI last week at home. That's not a good sign.

OKLAHOMA -3 at FLORIDA STATE

It's not often one gets to bet the top team in the country, laying only a FG. Gonna be a hostile environment no doubt, but the Sooners have the better QB and better team.

MIAMI -2- against OHIO STATE

A very big test for a wounded Buckeyes team that appears to down a notch (or two) from recent seasons. They're catching a Hurricane team that is in need of a win, is well rested, and has their best players all returning from suspension. Miami doesn't put away teams like they once did, but they'll win this one.

Not because he's betting on it (like Pete Rose) and not because his booster's are betting the games (like Barry Switzer and Jackie Sherrill used to do their boys a favor back in the day.) Coach Peterson does it to impress the BCS computers. It's his only chance to rise in the polls and potentially not get shut out of the big games at season's end.

Not interested in having one of those threads where it's debatable what my record is, but with a double play (I make on per week) on USC, I finished 5-4.......and 3-2 on the totals.....
