Do not expect for Virginia Tech to cover their enormous spread against Appalachian State today. Virginia Tech has a converted tightend at the starting quarterback position and remember that they struggle versus FCS schools. (Think James Madison at the start of last year!) Appalachian State has a been a force in the FCS and have appeared in two recent FCS title games. This was the same school that upset the mighty Wolverines a few years back, also. Virginia Tech will likely win but the game will be closer than the 25.5 point spread that most of the books are listing. Hurry and bet on Appalachian State and make some money.

These types of situations are bound to happen at the beginning of the season. I was impressed with the young qb of Virginia Tech (Logan Thomas) and the running ability of David Wilson. Tech should be able to run the table this year with their schedule the way they looked today. Appalachian State looked overwhelmed unprepared and uninterested.
