UNLV has to be mentally demoralized defensively. Hawaii coming off its first loss of the season will look to come out strong against a weak UNLV defense playing in a stadium more than likely half filled with Hawaii fans. Until UNLV shows some improvement, I'll take a chance giving up the pts in this spot after they lost to Washington St last week, a game they felt they could've won coming into it. Mentally, I doubt they are up to the challenge of Hawaii's passing attack. Hawaii came out confused with the shifts and motions Washington were running last week which led to break downs in their secondary which led to an early 21-0 lead by Washington in the 1st. Yet, Hawaii closed to within a TD 4 different times and kept it close to the end. I expect their defense to be ready for similar tactics UNLV possibly may bring to confuse their defense. Expect Hawaii's D-Line and LBs to hold down the running game and exploit their less experienced sophmore QB. Hawaii 42-17.

Scouting The Offense: UNLV failed to get in the red zone even once at Washington State. “I want to say never,” coach Bobby Hauck said when asked if he ever had a team fail to do that before. “Obviously a lot of work to do.” Despite efficient quarterback play from sophomore Caleb Herring and several talented running backs in sophomore Tim Cornett and freshman Dionza Bradford, the Rebels offense has scored just 17 points and managed a total of 28 first downs in its first two games.

Scouting The Defense: Opposing first-team offenses scored touchdowns on 12 of their first 13 possessions against UNLV this year with the other ending up in a field goal. The team’s rush defense (No. 93 nationally, 190.0 yards per game) and pass defense (No. 118, 364.5 ypg) are equally at fault for that. The Rebels have forced just one turnover in two games."
