    EP36's Lone Star State Laboratory
What's up dudes. Been strategizing on how to play NCAA this year. Too many times, I just play too much crap and wind up wasting winnings on losers later in the day. So this year ... I am choosing to specialize. Going to wager ONLY on games involving the teams in Texas that I get to follow and gather the most information about. I'm an alum of TCU, so I follow the Frogs very closely and grew up in Houston, lived in Austin and now reside in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area. These are the teams I will specialize in:

TCU, SMU, Texas Tech, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, Rice, Houston & North Texas.

In theory, if I have discipline , then I should play no more than nine games per week. Not claiming to be worth a damn or not, but hopefully I can provide either a good fade or follow opportunity with these. See you Thursday for the North Texas Mean Green!

Man, I feel bad you are going to have to specialize in North Texas and Rice that is like punishment from god.

Faded in Bowl Season, the thread I found had me at 54-52 and I think -2.26 units for last season. Rock Star, I know.

Checked, I was up about 3.5 before Bowl Season.

          Play #1 [9/1] North Texas-FIU Under 54 [-110]
The Mean Green start a new era under Dan McCarney. He's preaching physical football on both sides of the ball. That means running with their best weapon in RB Lance Dunbar to relieve pressure off 1st year starter Derek Thompson. UNT's best weapon will be keeping the opposition on the sidelines as their defense is still more of a liability despite having several returning starters. FIU has a solid defense that will be at its best when it can play with a lead. The offense features great RB depth, a stud WR and a pretty decent QB in Wesley Carroll. They aren't necessarily a big play offense, so expect them to run the ball plenty to set up the passing game. UNT's only chance to keep this close is to get Dunbar going early. That did not happen in last year's game as the Mean Green were down 27-3 by halftime in a 34-10 loss. That should mean some ball control and I think a score closer to 50 than the set total @ 54.

Grossly overestimated North Texas' ability to do ... anything.

              Play #2: [9/2] TCU -165
There seems to be a lot of thought that TCU is going to be vulnerable to a loss tonight. I don't buy it. Gary Patterson is THE best defensive coach in D1 and he's had the entire offseason to scheme for RG3 and the Bears. TCU did a great job of shutting him down last year and I think their focus will once again be to make him beat them through the air and not with his legs. The Frogs offense will have a new QB in Pachall. He's not going to be Andy Dalton. No one expects him to do the things Dalton did right away. Good thing is TCU has a horse in Ed Wesley at TB along with Tucker that should be able to loosen up a Baylor D that struggled to stop the run last year. Bottom line for me tonight. Baylor won't get blown out, but TCU will be prepared on defense and will do enough on offense to get the W. No way they can afford a loss tonight and I expect Patterson to have the Frogs playing with a chip on their shoulder all-season long.

Well, a piss poor start. Hope you faded early. TCU is going to be a bad football team this year it appears. Defensive newbies are going to need PLENTY of seasoning. Lucky they have a shit conference to play in again, but they're going to lose 3-4 I think with this squad. Live and learn.

                      Play #3: [9/3] Houston-UCLA Over 59 [-105]
The total has dropped here, but I think we are going to see some points today. The key here is UCLA. Has their new offensive coordinator instilled any life into this unit? With the Pistol set, they can run all day with Franklin and likely will look to do that to take pressure off their rotating QBs. Still, if UCLA doesn't try to exploit a very questionable UH defense with some aerial attack - Neuheisel might as well get his resume ready. UH is going to be looking run, so UCLA would do well to come out with some sort of passing program to open things up. The Coogs have Case Keenum back at QB and you can expect the Coogs to do what they do, spread the field and pass plenty. Keenum should be keen for a big game today after his season ended with a knee injury against these same Bruins last year. Houston also has BCS aspirations whether they are warranted or not, so they must show up today at home.

                        Play #4: [9/3] Texas State-Texas Tech Over 70 [-115]
The Red Raiders get to break in a new QB and what better way to do it than against a FBS squad? Texas State is under the guide of Dennis Franchione now. It's difficult to know what the Bobcats will be bringing to the table. We know they will run a version of the spread offense, but personnel wise it is a bit hard to know how they can execute it. Still, this Tech squad was porous last year and is learning a new 4-2-5 system. That should give Texas State at least a little hope they can exploit the Red Raiders a bit. Tech QB Seth Doege should have his shot to continue the usual aerial parade in Lubbock against a very suspect secondary. Texas State only played one FCS team last year in Houston and they were drilled for 68 points, giving up 54 in the 1st half to Case Keenum and company. The spread is at 40 which seems about spot on here with some of the questions. Could see Tech covering or State getting some late garbage to cover. That's why I am going with the total. It's high, but I'm expecting Tech to hang at least 50 here and I think Texas State will find enough to do the rest.

                          Play #5: [9/3] Texas-Rice Over 54 [-105]
Texas needs to roll up points with their new offense or else. I don't think UT lets up all game as they want to put last season's failures in the rear view. Rice has enough talent offensively to help here as UT is a bit young still defensively. Their new aggressive scheme under Manny Diaz could also yield some turnovers or see some players get burned in one-on-one settings.

Wish I would have just taken Rice and the points, but too chicken. UT is still not a good football team. If they can't move the ball on Rice, they are gonna get killed in the Big 12 again. Friggin Tech didn't wake up in enough time to get the over in the other game. Game ended right at 40 points, 50-10. 41 points by Tech in the 2nd half after only 9 in the 1st half. Slooooow start. Fade away.

I think I am going to go back to last year's formula. Play one game at each time slot for the day if I so choose. Helps keep me more interested and better variety I think. I don't think I thought had tedious this was going to be with the teams I chose.

Did not enjoy waiting most of the day today. Obviously the results sucked too. Gonna dig up my old thread and just add onto it from last year. Night night Lab thread, you and I sucked together something awful. Rest in pieces.
