The problem with power ratings is they pretty much are all the same-------I mean, they use the same data roughly.
They usually combine last year's performance coupled with returning starters-----guys with multiple sets will include subjective data like adding a number for a great QB or a great coach, and others will even try and quantify recruiting and include it.
I create my own power ratings---I have even traded them with guys like NY56----and I find them to be eerily similar to the numbers released by guys like Steele, Lawrence, and even the GS.
The bitch is how to adjust the power ratings/numbers throughout the season. What do you do to a team like VT who loses to James Madison? or how about a team like Ohio State who lost their head coach? How do you quantify those things?Comment -
