confused on this one. two defensive minded coaches with new teams in a conference opener, was thinkin more like 6 tds instead of almost 7.

#2Probably a 24-20 type of game. Miami basically has the same defense except for new corners starting. Miami lost their #1 reciever in Hankerson so probably not as many scores through the air. They do have lamar miller and mike james for a solid running game so expect a grind it out game.Comment -

#3miami's biggest hole for the past couple of years has been their ground d. teams that can move the ball on the ground and eat up the clock always manage to give the canes trouble and that's exactly the type of offense you can expect out of Randy Edsall. he stresses clock management and his UConn teams have always produced solid rushing offenses. With that said, I would lean under. But for those of you that know me, you don't I never bet on a Canes game.Comment -

#7Miami will most likely be without top defensive players Sean Spence, Ray Ray Armstrong and Vaughn Telemaque. Jacory Harris will likely be out as well as top receiver Travis Benjamin.
Get on the Maryland spread/Moneyline if your book currently has it up because Miami is in a whole lot of trouble, and will be missing a lot of players for potentially the whole year.Comment -

If you want to load up on Maryland, do it because you like Maryland, not because of these allegations. The line opened at Maimi -5 and ranges to -5 - -5.5 in all veags books as of today. Linesmakers were well aware of what was/is to come, and the line has already been create to reflect that.Comment -

#9Not true. Miami was aware of these allegations/violations for over a year. They notified the NCAA as soon as they found out about the violations. It will take the NCAA months to investigate and find viable proof to suspend some/all/any of the named players. If Miami and the NCAA were aware of these allegations for over a year, you don't think that vegas linesmakers were as well?

Oh and by months, you do know that they guy gave the NCAA info 5 months ago? Expect a ruling on these players being ineligible for 1 game, 5 games, or the season depending on what their particular situation is, but all those listed above will not be on the field against Maryland.Comment -

#10Sorry but that is a load of crap. It will take months to decide what to do with the actual university, not the players. They have evidence of phone calls credit records and pictures of them with him. The NCAA will suspend them 99% and even if they didn't you really think that Miami is going to risk putting those players on the field?

Take a second and read my original post again. Whether the all/some/any of the implicated players are on the field vs Maryland is not my point. My point is that the line will not move regardless. Vegas linesmakers have already taken these facts into account when opening Miami as a 5 pt favorite @ Maryland. You stated to load up on Maryland because of this...I am saying that should not be the case.
Miami, not the source, contacted the NCAA in December after the source's lawyer contacted the University, but refused to provide any evidence. Yahoo! had the story complied in late April. The spread and moneyline will not drop as a result of this. Linemakers had this info long before it was released to the public when they were capping the games and deciding the lines.
My point is, if you liked Miami -5 before, you should not switch your bet to Maryland simply because of the Yahoo! story. These allegations have not created any additional value for or agianst Miami in linesmakers' eyes. Otherwise, the game would be off the board or the line would have changed. It is still on the board, and the line hasn't changed at all.
I personally already had a small wager on Maryland +5.5 when the line was originally released. All I am saying is that if you honestly think you're getting value by fading Miami now since the new allegations, you are not. The spread and moneyline already relfect the implications of the story.Comment -

#11anyone that says it could take months for players to be suspended is clearly wrong. Any players on this team, aka the starting qb, could and probably will be suspended by the university. Just ask the UNC players of last year how something like this plays out.
Bottom line if you can find this line up on any book you trust. Hammer MD getting five for whatever you can, then thank me the night of the 5th.Comment -

#14No, they did not take this into account when they made the line. Also why are you saying the game is still on the board? The lines have been taken down as well as Miami's O/U wins. I made my comment when 5Dimes still had the line. When it comes back and if the Miami players are suspended as they should be, expect Maryland to be the favorite.. Saw Maryland +5.5 at the Hilton this morning. Like I said I already have the Terps so I hope you're right, but I just don't see that as the case.
As similar example would be last year with LSU - UNC @ the Georgia Dome. LSU opened at -1.5. Suspensions came out, line stayed at LSU - 1.5. By game time, sharp money went on UNC and they were acutally favored by 1. UNC lost the game 30-24, ending the game with the ball on LSU's 6 yard line and two dropped passes in the endzone by the same receiver. I remember because I had this exact mindset and went large on LSU +1. Nearly had a heart attack, even though it cashed...you can see why I remember this game so vividly.
Anyways if you get the terps gl, cause I'm on 'em too.Comment -

#15Unfortunately for me my account wasn't funded and now the line is gone. As for the players, Miami would be losing there best WR and a WR competing to start, their QB, and arguably their best 5 players on defense. Add that and the fact that starting OT Seantrel Henderson (Who was the #1 prospect of 2010) is out for the year, and that they were pretty evenly matched up against Maryland before this, I can't see them winning.Comment -

#16Opening on the road against a quality conference opponent is never easy. I know Maryland has a new coach, but they would put up a a good fight at home no matter who is/isn't playing for the Canes.
As for the QB situation, I assume you talking about Harris. Last I heard he wasn't named the starter yet, and the staff was actually favoring the backup from last year (forget his name).
As far as my bet is concerned, I hope Harris plays/isn't suspended...he is an interception machineComment -
