Should Ohio State give Tressel the Boot?
Yesterday the NCAA accused Jim Tressel of withholding information and lying to keep Buckeyes players on the field who had accepted improper benefits. In a 13-page indictment of Tressel's behavior, the NCAA alleged that he "permitted football student-athletes to participate in intercollegiate athletics while ineligible." It also said he "failed to deport himself with honesty and integrity" and said he was lying when he filled out a compliance form in September which said he had no knowledge of any NCAA violations by any of his players.

Why I think Tressel will be history soon is that he did not notify any of his superiors at Ohio State about this problem. This is going to get ugly folks and Ohio State will pay a huge price.

Do not see anyway the University avoids showing him the door. Bruce Pearl was sent packing for lying about secondary violations. These accusations are more serious than a Bruce Pearl BBQ for high school juniors.

Tressel has a number of former Ohio State players turning on him.

They care about the University that they are proud of.......

not some lying coach who is about to cause the school a lot of pain.

They have really backed themselves into a corner here. They have basically given Tressel the "vote of confidence," but I feel like the NCAA will come down harder on them if they don't get rid of him.

I agree J-98. There has to be some big doners out there working behind the scenes to get rid of Tressel. He did a fine job for Ohio State but is damaged goods now.

Seems the school would want to just cut their losses and move on.

Men, I am hearing behind the scenes that Ohio State is trying to figure out a way to put head coach Tressel out to pasture in a ....don't know the word....'kind way' for better words. One of my big Buckeye friends in the know says this situation is causing some division among the OS faithful.

Ohio State is a football school with great fans...they want the best for their school. I will bet anyone of character that Tressell won't be the head coach in 2012. My dine against your dine.

Things are getting ugly in Big Ten country. I wouldn't bet against you, WorkHorse.

Some Michigan Wolverines fans are having a laugh at Ohio State's recent troubles. And the highlight of the pranks isn't going unnoticed.

J-98, I don't know how old you are but we both share the same loyal blood toward Alabama. I'm an old timer...I love the old school coaches like the Bear and Woody Hayes of Ohio State. I love these type guys who made players walk the line....even if they didn't at times.

Bear cheated...Woody cheated.....but they cheated with class and still WON! Players had respect for their coaches, moms, dads, girlfriends, high school coaches....now days its look at me "hot dog time" with these hotshot clowns.

                  Goddamn freck show!

Workhorse, are you saying "Dine" as in a dinner, or "Dime" as in, well you know, for that wager? A dinner is fine with me, but I do not want to wager money with friends.

I don't think they have any other choice. And the Ohio State job and fanbase is enough to attract pretty much any coach in the country, Tressel has been good there but in this light they are going to have to show him the door.

15 coaches have been brought before the NCAA Committee on Infractions for lying.

14 of them were fired or resigned from their positions.

The lone survivor was fired the following year for poor results.

It certainly doesn't look good for Sweater Vest.

i think they will wait the end of the season, also they need to wait for the ncaa sanctions, because any qualified coach wont jumo without knowing the mess
