Someone please talk me off my proverbial roof...
Let me begin by saying I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, and I am proud of that fact. Save your southern cliche redneck jokes. It doesn't matter how much you may hate Tennessee, the south, or the SEC. The end of this TN/UNC game was an absolute travesty.

This thread is for Tennessee fans, Tennessee backers in general with a stake in the game, and every other rational mind who realized how large of a pile of dogsht the refs just raked on Tennessee.

Leave your bias behind. I'd without a doubt support my arch-enemies Georgia, Florida, Vandy and even Kentucky if this happened to them. HANDS DOWN. This was absolutely the biggest pile of sht I've ever seen in my life. I hope these refs ride home in an armored popemobile-esque car because they have to deal with an angry Nashville country music-listening-ass crowd. NO EXCUSE.

Just how many people have to be on the field for the refs to call a penalty? Sure, Tennessee lost the UT/LSU game this way. It was a fair call. Les Miles handed the game to us, but we screwed it up in our own way by a substitution-fail. We had too many men on the field. But I'm not a poor son of a bitch--we "redneck hicks" (just catering to the SBR public) in Tennessee have DVR too. I rewound the game multiple times. Still, my plasma TV couldn't erase the multiple extra UNC players on the field when they hiked the ball. No call.

If you had UNC in this game, congrats. You absolutely, undoubtedly, legitimately got lucky as fk. That's great for you, and I'm always happy for a winner--seriously. But can anyone seriously give me a legitimate reason how TN lost this game? Warning: that is a loaded question. You can't. Abstract math and differential equations make more sense than the end of this game. (But wait, us Tennesseans are all hick retards?) I'm just angry.

They did throw a flag on them and they were penalized 5 yards, right?

My real question here is why that "catch" at midfield was ruled a catch... that kid never caught the ball.

Relax man, I was on UNC anyway and won because of the way things went down.

I'm just pointing out what I saw that may be consoling to our friend here.

The 15 guys on the field did receive a 5 yard penalty for too many men on the field. That's what my DVR shows. That's why they were moved back 5 yards for the field goal try.

Great game. Penalty was correctly enforced 5 yards. North Carolina wins fair and square.

                    Sec... 0-1

I believe too many men on the fied was called and the 5 yards penalized...the 1 second left was correct...the personal fouls were legit

maybe you should ask Bray why he threw a pick in overtime

Expect a rule change next year to something similar to the NFL with the 10 second runoff with offense teams comitting penalties to stop the clock. There were alot of 50/50 calls that didnt go Tennessee's way at the end, had the catch with personal foul been ruled incomplete on the field it probably wouldve been upheld as such in the booth as well. There is some questioning on whether or not the penalty should have been 5 yards or 15 yards. An illegal participation is a 15 yard penalty and it appeared that 12 players were lined up and participated in the spike play. Would have made it a longer field goal and possibly changed the outcome. I am a Vols fan and I was furious to begin with but in reality it was a game between two mediocre teams and just making the bowl game was a good start for Dooley at UT.

The things to come away from this game on the UT side is that they have a QB who has great potential to be the best in the conference, young play making wide recievers and a young offensive line that fought all the way to the end of the game. Bray needs to quit the throat cutting gestures but I think the "loco" signals and salutes can stay when he is congratulating his receivers. He is an 18 year old kid who made some mistakes tonight but its part of the process. Rivals of the Vols are loving this right now but if they are honest with themselves there is no reason the Vols will not be competing for the top spot in the SEC East in the near future. 2011 will be the year when expectations should rise. I think Dooley is a class act and this year has been beneficial to him and his players alike. Step off the roof, the sun will come out tomorrow. After all, its just one game.

You are correct. Despite your insensitivity to my potential roof-leaping, I realize now the discrepancy between the NFL and the NCAA's (lack off) run-off rule. NCAA = there is none. I disagree with that as much as I do the NCAA pass interference rule (15 yd instead of spot-of-the-foul)--but that's beside the point. The sht has to be changed because it decides games. However if we're talking single calls in this football game, I distinctly (and my DVR) remember a hit to Bray's helmet and a certain defender's forearm landing on his helmet in the same play.. much less numerous holding calls were not called. I'm used to the ESPN announcers' biases toward any Tenn athletic team.. From a homer, I'm sure that doesn't mean much. Still, I haven't felt as robbed as I have tonight.

The game was over. It was declared over by the official. It took some sort of ultimately corrupt booth review to put the teams back on the field for some bogus kick attempt. I've never seen anything like this. And this isn't just from a Tennessee homer. I would love, infamously, to see another instance like this one..

they tenn should have been flaged for the throat slashing by Bray or the saluting they did after they scored just like the K.st game Now that was a bogus call if I ever seen one
