Mike Leach - Maryland

Maybe..............? After "ACC Coach of the Year" Ralph Friedgen was shown the back door, rumors are flying that Maryland is interested in Mike Leach for their new coach. Leach said on his radio show he would be very interested in the position. Friedgen was forced out with a $2 million severance to make room for someone the school was interested in. Could very well be the ole Texas Tech coach.

Another rumor with Leach's name tied to it is at Oklahoma State where the Cowboys are in need of a new offensive coordinator.

I thought Leach was known for his offensive schemes at Tech, but how was his recruiting? Figure to be competitive in Texas/Big 12, it must have been top notch. That was always Fridge's probem. He was a good coach, but his best years were with the previous coach's players. Never could get the big guys to stay home.

I dont know what to think, Fridge is a very good coach and off. coordinator(since his days @ GT) he did both 2 years ago. I dont think he is a good recruiter and that is the problem.Dont know much about Leach other than a very good offensive mind.What people are not talking about is the shaft that MD. assit. coach got he was to be new HC after Fridge. I only hope they sort this out fast and get on to recruiting.

Leach is begging for any job that he can get.

He has thrown his name into the Miami and Maryland jobs. He is bound to get one of these.
