The Truth about "The Fade Route"
    It never works...

    Ever.

Its hands down the worst play in football. Has about a 10% success rate.

It takes the perfect throw, to the perfect type of WR. Usually a 6'3+ guy with a 30''+ Vert. How many teams have guys like that, even in the pros?

This p[lay has to be retired, and put in the Hall of Fame to never be seen again.

I just saw UTEP go for a fade route, and of course the ball was over-thrown. Plus the WR was about 5'6

I've watched Price enough from his days at WSU to know a fade was coming there. While I like the back shoulder fade, when it comes to a quick end zone route I prefer the slant. In that spot you've got to at least give your WR a chance, something Vittatoe failed to do.

No complaints from me, I'm on BYU -11.

        Good call.

I'm just an observant of dumb coaching.
