      Boyz,

Not an official play.....but I will personally go to the betting window with Iowa +3 and Iowa-UNDER. These bowl games are boring the crap outta me. It feels a whole lot like betting pre-season NFL. If it weren't for the action, no way I would watch any of this drivel. Who do we have to assassinate to get a college football playoff?

Okay, fine, my retirement was short lived. Going back to the betting window today with the following plays....

        MARYLAND/EAST CAROLINA - OVER 69

Hard to predict the state of mind of the Terrapins with all the commotion involving Coach Friedgen. Ordinarily I would lay about 2 TDs with Maryland against these Pirates. Today though I will focus solely on the total. ECU has the single-worst ranked defense in the country, giving up an average of 480 ypg. Yikes! Playing against foes far inferior to Maryland they are giving up an average of 43 ppg. They are weak against the run and the pass. The only thing they do well (to account for that stellar 6-6 record) is move the ball, as they average 38 ppg. This game could go into the 80s.

        BAYLOR -1 over ILLINOIS

Basically a home game for the Bears, and it will be a sellout. Huge advantage there. The second big advantage for Baylor is that their QB Griffin will be the best player on the field. He can run and pass. The Illini are one-dimensional on offense, relying solely on their power rush game. Should they get behind, they have limited capability of playing catch-up. The Bears are the play.

        OKLAHOMA STATE -4- against ARIZONA
        OKLAHOMA STATE/ARIZONA - UNDER 67
        (2 separate plays)

Last year these Wildcats laid a nasty egg against Nebraska in their bowl game. Gotta believe they will prepare a bit better for this one. I keep reading about how these Cowboys will be disappointed to be playing here as they had their sights set on a better bowl. Everybody but Oregon and Auburn was hoping for a better bowl. The Cowboys finished 10-2 in the Big 12, compared to Arizona's 7-5 in the Pac 10. Advantage Cowboys. Sure Ok State lost their last game, a heartbreaker, to Oklahoma.....but Arizona lost their last 4, including a home game against arch-rival Az St. The Wildcats own the better defense, by a little, but the Cowboys own a far superior offense. Az's only hope is to play methodical and keep the Cowboys off the field. That will only work for so long. Sooner or later these faster Cowboys will pull away.

        As always, best of luck.

I'm betting 'em.....but these bowl games SUCK. Honestly, I'd rather put my money on an NBA game.....or college hoops.....or NHL. These games mean nothing!!!! There are 120 teams in Div-1 football and there are 35 bowl games. Do the math.....70 teams get in and 50 are left out. In college hoops there are ???? something like 320 teams competing for 64 slots. That makes sense, roughly 20% get to compete for a national championship. A REAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. In college football, well over 50% get to compete for what??? A chance to play on ESPN in some meaningless game that only the 2 schools, and the player's parents, and bored-out-of-their-mind gamblers give a crap about. It's corporate bullshit at it's worst. Does anybody realize the incredible amount of money that is being left on the table with this assinine system as compared to a 'December Madness' alternative?

How is it we can put a man on the moon (or at least fake like we did) but we can't fix this college football situation??

              SMU/ARMY - UNDER 52

Army is the most methodical team in the land. They run the option, and then they run it again, and again. As far as college football goes, the clock keeps ticking. This is not a team that will engage in a shootout. If they're up, they'll run the option....If they're down, they'll run the option. I actually think Army might be the right side play here, as well, but the adage goes that the it's easy to prepare for the option if you have enough time. Don't care who wins.....I'm playing the UNDER.

                KANSAS STATE +1 against SYRACUSE

I hesitated for a moment on this one, what with the game being played in New York. I hesitate no more. The weather will not be an issue. Big 12 pedigree versus Big East also-ran. Gimme the Wildcats.

                        Looking for Harry N. Lloyd

New to the sight Harry, and I have found I am usually in agreement with you in the way you break down the games. For the most part I have just scanned this sight, kinda like you do in the grocery check out line, you really don't want anyone to know your reading the tabloids, and enjoying all the b.s. A lot of these guys can't actually be serious with some of the stuff they put out there, but then again maybe they are? Anyway I enjoy reading your post and look forward to future ones.
