    LSU gets a Quarterback
Can you imagine how good LSU might have been this season with a really good quarterback. Well, they may have just signed one. Zack Mettenberger is offically signing with the Tigers.

Mettenberger has gone the Cam Newton route. He signed with Georgia and redshirted his freshman season, then was kicked off the team. He then transferred to Butler Community College (Kansas) where he passed for 2,678 yards and 32 touchdowns.

The 6-5, 236 pound QB is scheduled to enroll in January and go through spring practice with the Tigers. He will now battle Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee for the starting job. Unless there is miracle improvement with Jefferson or Jarrett, he should be the starter next year. The kid has a cannon for an arm.

Rookie, Steven Rivers will not be a factor at LSU for two or three years if he ever is. I've seen him play from the ninth grade on and he has a long way to go before he is SEC ready. He was not even recruited by Alabama or Auburn and he played high school ball in north Alabama. His brother got him a lot of attention.

I for one don't think he's an SEC quarterback.

If he is going the Cam Newton route then how much did his father ask for? Will LSU dominate next season but we have to listen to ESPN constantly talking about all of the wrong doings and then ultimately the NCAA let him go free?

A lot of sports magazines have quotes of some bigtime coaches saying that he is the real deal. He is not being recruited by Alabama or Auburn, because he has been committed to LSU for over a year now. He made an unofficial visit with his Dad and said that LSU is where he wants to play college football. He hasn't changed his mind since.

First, Rivers committed to LSU in August without ever visiting the campus. He later visited LSU with his dad Steve.

He was not recruited by Alabama, Auburn or UAB because they could get better prospects. I'm not saying Rivers is not a good high school QB, I'm saying he is not an SEC winning QB. I've watched him play jr. high ball at Austin High School and later when he transferred to Athens High School so his dad could coach him. Steve Rivers (dad) worked out a deal with Athens that would let him coach without teaching.

I hope the kid does well, I got to know him and his dad a little by talking to them at practices. He's 6-6 and about 190 and slow. He's rated a 3 star prospect and can play college ball somewhere. I doubt he gets the chance at LSU.
