    Colorado's New Coach
Some of you close to the program may have better information on what's going on with the football coaching search than I do but since I am a Alabama fan, will report that Bama's offensive coordinator Jim McElwain has interviewed for the job. McElwain has been at Alabama for three seasons and like defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, will be a head coach soon.

Air Force coach Troy Calhoun has told the Buffs to take his name from consideration. So has Mike Bellotti.

From what I've gathered, former player Eric Bieniemy seems to be the front runner for the job. I know nothing about his coaching background.

Let the forum know if you have any solid info on what's going on out there. Reports are a new coach will be named by this weekend.

Eric Bieniemy is the front runner. Former CU player, former Pac-10 asst. coach, and now has NFL ties. They feel he will be able to bring in players from top high schools, and being an african american seems to be a plus for a town who has rumored to treat ther black athletes less then good. The only knock on Bieniemy is his lack of coordinator experince.. Can he put a game plan together? Can he put a playbook together for that matter. They would have to surround him with good coaches until he gets off and running....... Jim McElwain would be an awesome fit, but I'm willing to bet he makes more money as the offensive coordinator at Bama then would make at CU. CU has already stated they are not opening the wallet for a coach. No matter who steps in I hope CU turns it around in a hurry and can at least compete in the Pac10 or Pac12 or whatever they are calling it!!!!

Thanks dchecks. Like I said, I know very little about Bieniemy's coaching experience. If like you said, he has no coordinator experience, he would be nothing more than a coach in training. Seems to me Colorado needs to bring a strong presence into the once proud program. Money may be a factor as you have stated.

I hate to say this and Im not just a disgruntled Alabama fan, but I would have no problem with McElwain leaving. I hate how conservative he gets with a lead. This season, Penn State, UF, Ole Piss, LSU!!!!(barely had a lead), and Auburn.

If UF had an offense they would of beat us.

You are not alone jwbama with your comments on McElwain.

My only reservation is before I get on McElwain....just don't know how much Saban puts the clamps on him.

We (Bama) were flat OUT COACHED in the Auburn game.

I have to believe it is more McElwain. Do you remember when Saban ripped the coaching for calling too conservative of a game. It amazes me how in the big games we can jump out on someone so fast and look so good but by the third quarter our offensive plays are just plain and boring.

On another note I sure hope Phillip Sims is good because I have not been impressed with the little Ive seen from McCarron

As of right now I would say the odds for CU's next coach is
              Embree 50%
              Bieniemy 40%
              McElwain 10%

If Colorado wants to win the Pac 12, Bieniemy is not the answer. They need someone with college coordinator experience at a minimum.

                    I change my odds:
90% Embree with Bieniemy as OC
