    Vanderbilt's new football coach...Auburn?
Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is Vanderbilt's top choice to become it's new football coach. Robbie Caldwell, Vandys one year coach resigned effective Saturday.

No comment from Malzahn as he prepares for the SEC Championship game.

Al Golden (Temple) has surfaced as a leading contender for the Vandy job. He's done one hell of a job at Temple going 17-8 past two years. If interested, he could improve on his $575,000 salary with the SEC school.

Any coach considering Vanderbilt better understand it's one tough situation for a football coach. Lack of support by the administration, lack of funding compared to other SEC schools and academic standards that make recruiting really difficult. Good coaches get buried at this job.

Any coach that walks into Vandy willingly should have their head checked. It's an institution that just doesn't stress football as an important entity. With that type apathy towards football, it's no wonder that they have never been successful in a league like the SEC. Gus will have better opportunities to become a head coach elsewhere.
