    Utah -6 at Notre Dame
This seems easy. Why should I not love Utah at -6 in this spot. Notre Dame is missing their starting QB and RB and isn't any good anyway.

Utah should be focused coming off of a loss.

Thoughts. It seems easy which is why I'm having second thoughts.

People are worried Utah might come in flat after a loss that knocks them out of the headlines. I look for them to be out for blood. I'm on Utah this week.

        Couple reasons to be cautious...

This is Utah's first time playing in ND stadium. That can be intimidating. ND is something like 55-14 against teams playing there for the first time.

The main reason to be somewhat wary is that all of Utah's blowout wins have come against softer teams. Their results against stronger teams have been...

A 3 point overtime win at home over Pitt, in which they pushed on the spread.

A 40 point beatdown by TCU at home their last game.

A 5 point SU win but ATS loss on the road at Air Force the game before that.

The teams they've blown out have been UNLV, Wyoming, New Mexico, San Jose St., Colorado State and Iowa State. Not exactly NCAA juggernauts.

Taking a look at their one common opponent, Pitt... Utah won at home by 3 in OT. ND beat them at home by 6. Of course, that was when Crist was still playing.

Utah might still be a good bet looking to bounce back and get invited to a top tier bowl game, playing against a banged-up ND but you may want to avoid mortgaging the house on this one.

          Great analysis.

I'll probably play Utah but I'm not going to do anything crazy.

As for Notre Dame being 55-14 against teams playing in South Bend for the first time, I wouldn't put that much stock into that stat. A lot of those wins probably came when Notre Dame was good. Likewise, Utah has gone into Michigan and won and they have also went into SEC country and beat Bama in the Sugar bowl. I don't think they'll be intimidated.

I agree with you that Utah hasn't really beaten anyone this season. They were way overrated.

Utah for the blowout. The Irish suck this year.

ummm irish are 55-14 against teams playing there for the first time, because they played most teams 40 years ago when they were an elite program. you are not going to find a bigger irish fan than me, but to bet money on nd is crazy. utah has one of the best o-lines in the nation. yah, the got hammared last week, but that may have been to the best team in the country.

the only positives i see for irish. they beat pitt by a touch and utah beat them by 3 in ot, and the irish are at home.

utah is better offensively, defensively, and are not suffering the injuries the irish are.

coming out flat???? seriously, i would consider that if it wasnt n.d., but every team that comes there goes all hyed up. beating n.d. still means something. how much longer i dont know, but i think they will be up.

utah wasnt playin for the national title anyway. they can still go to a big bowl without losing and i think that would be motivation enough.

I would not go anywhere near Utah this week, the letdown factor ix very legitimate here.

They don't give a rat's ass about visiting Notre Dame for the first time, that plays a distant second fiddle to the Utes losing their Super Bowl last week.

I like Utah in the spot, I don't fear the letdown. The Irish's whole season has been a letdown.

i really dont see how utah doesn't roll ND....they are simply awful...only thing maybe could be cold weather but still, i think the utes ROLL by atleast 20 as they wana show the world last week, though it kills the season, was a fluke...

Notre Dame lost to Tulsa. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pool. However, there is a let down factor for Utah and Notre Dame is coming off a bye week. But again ND lost to TULSA.

                                  Utah is an easy winner

I doubt you would see a Utah type team look flat

I'm scared for this game. Utah SHOULD win....But who knows how the will come out after a blowout loss.

No play for me. Not even a game I'd want to watch as I hate ND that much.

I dont think Utah will come out flat. ND sucks this year. Utah should roll by 2TD+

last year utah got crushed by TCU 55-28 and they did not have a let down the next game (albeit against lesser competition than ND). utah won the following week (at home) to SDSU 38-7.

Utah should come out firing on all cylinders after being shut out last week. It could get ugly for Notre Dame early facing a wounded animal like Utah.
