I guess this is where I put in the preamble of how well I am doing, just wanted to share, etc, etc, etc.
Nope. I am a lousy gambler who lacks financial discipline (down $700 this season), likes action more than winning most times(I can afford to lose this much over a few months), plays wild parlays and cuz I have hit a couple big ones think I can do it again. I have spent more time making spreadsheets and looking at numbers than I care to think about. My final conclusion is that I am as square as they come and I find myself thinking "how the **** did that just happen" week after week.
BUT, I am trying to learn. When I am immediately drawn to a line, it is probably a loser. So that is how much research went into these picks. The more I research, the more I end up taking the Steelers @ NO when the line is telling me to take the Saints.
So why do I bother with a thread? Maybe to hold myself accountable for the rest of the season, to try to learn some fiscal management, and to see if I can overcome my inherent weakness to find the right sides. So, all plays will be for 1 unit, straight. Wish me luck. I will need it with these shitty teams.
The good:
Utah +5, line was begging me to take NC contender TCU
Mizzou-4, good team is an awful spot last weekend, bouncesback
OR-35, square all day, but I might get a chance to middle this. Sometimes square plays win.
The bad:
Army+6.5, AF was competitive with Utah in a great spot, now go on the road against an inferior team. It is too easy to take AF here
Clemson-3, Didn't score an offensive TD against BC last weekend after a big win vs GT the week before - what an awful spot for Clemson that was. Line is begging me to take Wilson and NC State.
LSU +6, Les Miles is an idiot, Alabama is arguably the best team in the nation, line is only 6?
ASU +5.5, Bad spot for USC who is certainly a more talented team.
The ugly: these are some crappy teams
Colorado -9, IMHO colorado should not lay 9 points against a good high school team. I'll just bet with the linemakers on this one.
Rice +17.5, I would never consider betting on Rice - they are just too shitty.
Marshall +9.5, same as Rice- crappy crappy team that I have no faith in. So i get to bet them.
ID 11.5, man this team has had some bad losses, and looked lost in the process. Nevada is perceived as really good. So easy to take Nevada and lay the 2 td's.
UCLA +5, no one in their right mind would bet on UCLA against a Or St team that just crushed a good cal team, right?
Some of these will lose really badly as the better team may just overcome the awful spot they are in and destroy these crappy teams.
Sure would be nice if more than half hit though.
