My picks thread

So right off the top, let me state that I do this for fun, and I expect to lose money, the odds are always stacked against the player and it's very hard. I'm very casual in doing this and go off of a mix of gut, brains and loyalty to my teams. My teams are the Miami Hurricanes (bleed orange and green) and the FIU Golden Panthers (school I just left.) I generally do decent in NCAA so that's the one I'll track on here. I don't expect my picks to be fantastic, and I don't look at lines. Some of you just threw up in your mouths and are reaching for the x in the corner or clicking back as quickly as you can, totally understandable.

I usually bet tiny sums (5$ or so) . Again, I don't expect to make money and do this for fun.

Vanderbilt has been regressing this season, Mallet will go over and through them and Vandy's offense is shaky. I think Arkansas holds them.

Oklahoma will destroy a CU team that must feel increasingly worse about wins over teams like CSU. The Buffs really shouldn't be on the field at the same time.

Nevada's offense is a powerhouse, confusing much better teams and giving them problems. Utah State is bad versus the run, has little offense and won't be able to keep up with the high scoring Nevada O.

FIU comes in riding a winning streak, has played rutgers, pitt pretty close and lost to maryland and the aggies because they couldn't hold leads and the first team tired out. Undefeated against sun belt conference opponents I think they take the shula bowl back for the first time in 3 years. FAU is struggling mightily this year and may force wise old Owl Howard Schnellenberger into retirement.

Miami will destroy Virginia. This is a team that really enjoyed it's football last week versus UNC, the defense has forced about 11 turnovers in the last couple of games, Jacory Harris has 1 pick in two games and the Cavaliers Defense is banged up. I know very little about their offense but I doubt it has the athletes to beat Miami.

Watching FIU (my alma mater) try to win a conference share at least tonight has been nerve wracking. USC is the toughest of the bets I made this week. Not looking good, but otherwise doing pretty well.

My picks:
College Football 212 Florida International -210* vs Arkansas State

FIU has struggled in recent years vs. ASU but this is the best team Mario Cristobal has ever had. They've already clinched a share of the title and I think now they'll be clinching the title outright. Their passing game is coming along well, they've got a decent couple of RB's and the defense is it's traditionally stingy self. May be a bit of a trap game after Troy last week but I think they win this one. ASU's offense is good enough to compete but their defensive secondary is weak and with FIU's Hilton, Ellison and others, I think they make this a 10 point win or so. Won't bet ATS but I am leaning towards it.

College Football 137 Boise State -14 -110* vs Nevada

Nevada is severely underrated because they play in a joke of a conference. Unfortunately I think they are a top 25 team, and would be pretty good in a conference like the Big East. That being said, they run into a brick wall in Boise. They play defense as well as anyone in the country really and though I don't know about #2, they are a top ten team in the country. 14 is a good line, some may want to buy a couple of points down but I see BSU rolling to a 20 point win or so. But we all know how I do vs. the Spread. I just don't think Nevada can stop Boise.

as usual spreads aren't my thing.

Look tonight for FIU-Toledo to hit the over. While I think they'll go over the 58 the line is at, it opened at 57. I went super cheap and went with the over at 56. The last two meetings have been open games with neither team playing good defense. FIU and Toledo have played back 2 back years and then stopped this year. FIU's Offensive Coordinator used to work @ Toledo. I think if I had to pick the game SU, I'd go with FIU because Toledo only has one real thread, FIU has Greg Ellinson and TY Hilton.

Struggling to get on, like GTech was struggling vs. air force. sb. froze up on me. My pick was 219 NC State +140* vs West Virginia
and for the next game Missouri -142* vs Iowa

Much more sure about the NC state game though. WVirginia got lucky they were in the Big Least.
