best way to speed up computer downloads?

other than doing the normal defrag and deleting browsing history, is there a simple way to make your computer faster? damn downlods take forever. thanks for your help...

use peer block... for security use nortons security... defragmenting does not speed up downloading.. just makes computer run smoothly.. i have not defragmented in months and computer downloads super super fast....
