Boyz,
Another big week last week, going 7-3 and bringing the season tally to 36-18. They've all been posted right here on these pages. That's 67%.....plus 18 units!!! Gonna try to keep the hot streak going with the following plays......
MIAMI -6- over NORTH CAROLINA
Wasn't Jacory Harris supposed to be doing what Dennard Robinson is doing this season? Harris is barely completing 50% of his passes. The Hurricanes have lost their two biggest games this year, at Ohio State and at home to Florida State. This will be their third biggest game and my money says they finally get it done. Heels coach Butch Davis has beaten his former team 3 straight years. He's done a helluva job under trying circumstances to have this year's squad sitting at 4-2. There's been too many distractions though. The motivation is with the Hurricanes. Look for them to win this one by over a TD.
PENN STATE -9- at MINNESOTA
How do you back a team that is totally inept and whose coach has gone bye-bye? By the way, I'm referring to the Nittany Lions. Jo Pa has an advanced case of dementia. Call in Dr. Kevorkian. The good news is this week they face a Minny team even more feeble than themselves. The week off came at a good time for Penn State. They stand at 3-3 and have plenty of tough games ahead of them. This one is a must win. The Golden Gophers defense is putrid, giving up 5.6 ypc and owning the 120th (outta 120) ranked pass efficiency defense. Lay it.
TEXAS -20- against IOWA STATE
I'm gonna ride this horse.....or is it a steer? Right now the Horns remind me a lot of Virginia Tech earlier in the season. A sluggish start, some tough losses. But they finally look like they're starting to gel. The Cyclones have just had their midsections battered by two heavyweights, Utah and Oklahoma. They're prime for the knockout. Texas beats 'em silly in front of the home crowd.
KANSAS +14 against TEXAS A&M
Wasn't it just recently that Jesse Jackson and the affirmative action crowd was up in arms because Turner Gill didn't get the head coaching job at Auburn? After all, Gill had brought U-Buffalo from the dregs all the way up to mediocrity. Guess Mr. Jackson doesn't bet college football....cuz under Coach Chizik an undefeated Auburn is averaging 41 ppg, and under Gill, 2-4 Kansas is averaging 17 ppg. Why do I like the Jayhawks then? Desperation....and 2 TDs at home. Gill and his boys need this game to stave off a mutiny. A&M is no great shakes. They've got no right laying this steep a price on the conference road. Take the points and hold your nose.
UTAH STATE +3 against HAWAII
No doubt the Rainbows have impressed this season, standing at 5-2. This situations favors the Aggies though in a big way. Hawaii is fresh off their biggest win in years and has to take to the mainland, and altitude, to face a rested Aggies team. Remember how Utah State rose to the occasion to beat BYU at home a few weeks back? They'll be jacked up to do the same here. Aggies outright.
GEORGIA -4 at KENTUCKY
In the topsy-turvy SEC it's been profitable to go against whomever had the big upset last week. In this case, that'd be the Wildcats, who had that nice win over South Carolina last Saturday. This will be Kentucky's third home game in a row, and the last two were nail-biters. Gonna side with the red hot Georgia 'Dawgs who have been hitting on all cylinders the past few weeks. This one is a must win for them if they have any serious bowl hopes. They've been tough since stud WR Green came back. They'll get 'er done here.
NEW MEXICO +23- against SAN DIEGO STATE
Gonna bank on the Aztecs having a bit of a hangover after last week's nice win over Air Force. Gonna also bank on the Lobos taking advantage of last week's bye to work out a few wrinkles (understatement intended). In the face of overwhelming evidence, I see New Mexico keeping it within 3 TDs.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE -12- over LOUISIANA MONROE
Losing QB Dasher made for a tough start to the season for Middle Tennessee. He's been back for a few weeks now. But those games were against Troy and Georgia Tech, two teams far superior to ULM. This is Mid Tenn's time to right their ship and get their season back on track. It's now or never. Lay it.
As always, best of luck.
