Had a great time last week, going 6-2 on these college totals plays. Gonna ride the momentum and add to the winnings with the following....
SYRACUSE/PITT - OVER 44
Pitt has owned this series, winning the past 5. The Orange have surprised so far, opening the season at 4-1. They've pretty much done it with smoke and mirrors as 3 of the wins have come against Akron, Maine, and Colgate. Now they face a desperate Pitt team (2-3) who's already faced Utah, Miami, and Notre Dame. The Panthers will get it done in this one, eclipsing the low posted total.
RUTGERS/ARMY - OVER 42 (****Double Play*****)
Been riding this Army train all season. QB Steelman has been doing a helluva job running their triple option attack. The Cadets are averaging 32 ppg and have been doing a great job of protecting the ball. Rutgers meanwhile was a little anemic offensively until frosh QB Dodd stepped in with his whipping crop. Army will own the ground, Rutgers owns the air, and this one goes over.
EAST CAROLINA/NORTH CAROLINA STATE - UNDER 69-
Both of these teams have been lighting up the scoreboard, averaging 37 ppg each. This is an awfully high total though. My money says that the Pirates rise to the occasion and play a better brand of defense in this one. The Spartans are in a bit of a sandwich, having beaten BC last week and with Florida State on deck. Under.
VIRGINIA/NORTH CAROLINA - UNDER 47-
Even without all those suspended players, the Tar Heels defense has been outstanding. The Cavaliers pedestrian offense won't scare 'em. Look for the Heels to attack on the ground, and why not? UVa is allowing 5.0 ypc. RB Droughns will chew up yards.....and the clock....and this one stays under.
SAN JOSE STATE/BOISE STATE - OVER 56
It's my opinion that Coach Peterson of Boise State is fully aware what the pointspreads are in his games.....and he wants to win and cover, to impress the pollsters. In this one his Broncos are a 41 point favorite, so if you do the math, the boys in Vegas are predicting a final score of approximately 48-7. Boise State can name the score in this one. They may eclipse 56 themselves. Any points the Spartans are able to muster will be gravy.
HAWAII/NEVADA - UNDER 75-
No question that both of these teams can light up the scoreboard. Hawaii does it through the air and Nevada gets in done on the ground. I gotta believe Nevada is the better team here and should be able to dictate play. It's in their best interest to NOT get in a shootout with these Warriors. The Wolfpack will try to chew up the clock on the ground in an effort to keep the Hawaii offense off the field. Long methodical drives should help to keep this one under the bloated number.
INDIANA/ARKANSAS STATE - UNDER 65-
Indiana should get 'er done in this one, but might still be licking their wounds after last week's showdown with Ohio State. Arkansas State is giving up 5.4 ypc. If the Hoosiers have any sense about them at all, they'll attack on the ground. Makes a shootout less likely.
As always, best of luck.
