Memphis blows...bad USM has a few injuries and its a Rivalry game. I dont think Memphis could beat many 1AA teams, but it is a rivalry game and sometimes that is a huge factor, especially for teams with absolutely nothing going for them like the Tigers. That being said, i wouldnt even consider playing Memphis

I bet my max on southern miss. An ya rival my ass! I live in Memphis and only game we care about is ut/Memphis.....how did that kstate/Kansas rival work out. I rest my case.
What Will Happen: Even away from home, this is a perfect spot for Southern Miss to regroup and get back on track. The Golden Eagles are catching a Memphis program that’s young and still evolving under rookie head coach Larry Porter. They’ll jump out to a quick lead behind the passing and running of Davis, and never look back for a much-needed lopsided win.

This is one of the games that caught my eye, I've bet against Memphis a few times and it has been quite profitable. So. Miss is coming off a disappointing loss to ECU at home where they blew an early 20 point lead. They are also missing their big play WR Deandre Brown who they have been without for a few games now. That being said I still see USM piling on the Tigers in front a high school football sized crowd in Memphis. It may be a rivalry game but so was Kansas and K-State last night and we saw how quickly that got out of hand. Memphis has been outscored 104-7 in the last two games against Louisville and Tulsa plus they have been prone to turnovers. I expect a 20+ victory for the Golden Eagles.

Southern Miss also gets back their best RB Desmond Johnson who missed last week due to suspension. As Utmoody pointed out, WR DeAndre Brown is out and will be for the rest of the year. The absence of Deandre has hurt the offense tremendously as teams no longer have to adjust their coverage schemes for him.

The Southern Miss offense is only averaging 6.2 yds/patt (against some of the worst defenses in the country) on the season which is considerably lower than the last couple of years. Dr. Bob claims the USM offense is about 1 yd/per play below average and I completely agree. The Southern Miss defense has been pretty good overall this season so they should be able to control the terrible Memphis offense.

The main concern I would have with this bet is how poorly Southern Miss has played on the road since Larry Fedora took over. Just this year against Louisiana Tech, USM ran 92 plays and had the ball 38 minutes of the game and still failed to cover a 3.5 point spread. La tech even had the ball at midfield late in the game with a chance to win.

Overall the Memphis offense is bad enough that Southern Miss should get the cover but this is not a gimme as some are claiming.

Also, Tulsa went off as a 7 point favorite at Memphis a couple of weeks ago. I don't think the line would have been much different if Southern Miss played them that week so you are getting terrible line value from that perspective.

BOL and I hope you're right, but its a no play for me. I would lean on the UNDER 48.5 if I were to play it.

This should be everyones strongest play of the day. Memphis is really that bad. SoMiss gave away a 20 point lead last weekend against a good ECU team. Memphis isn't even in the same stratosphere as ECU. If SoMiss goes up big in this one they will not let off the accelerator this week should be a twenty point plus victory.

Unfortunately, Southern Miss has no accelerator on the road. Larry Fedora's biggest road margin has been an 18 point win over an 0-10 SMU team a couple years ago.

I have no problem with taking Southern Miss, but I would treat it like any other play.
