SDSU is a 4.5 point favorite at BYU. BYU does not have a good team. They did beat Washington on the first weekend, but it's been all downhill since. BYU has a tradition of winning at home; I know that. I also know that Mendenhall has been running their butts off in practice, and trying to fire them up. But I don't think their problems can be fixed so quickly. The Cougars have one of the worst defenses in the country, especially against the run (giving up 252 yards per game). They just let their defensive coordinator and secondary coach go. The offense is mediocre at best (15 points and 312 yards per game). The Aztecs, on the other hand, are on a major upswing. Rivals has the Aztecs at #40. Their offense is putting up 38 points and over 500 yards per game. On the road, they gave Missouri a scare. At home, they blew out Utah State (who blew out BYU -- but we know not to get to excited about that sort of thing). Utah State has a fairly dangerous offense, and the Aztecs' very athletic defense shut it down. The Aztecs had last week off, giving them two weeks to prepare for this conference opener against a team that has beat them by double digits consistently over the last few years. I love these games where the traditionally better team sucks and the traditionally weak team is decent. I think SDSU wins this by at least 10, and I think it could be a blowout (especially if SDSU's defense gets a score or two, and that is very possible). Two important warnings, though: (1) over 70% of the public is on SDSU and the line has gone from -6 to -4.5, so it's probably a square play, and (2) I've been cold. Thought I'd throw this one out there though. BOL this weekend.

Thing that bothers me is that NEVADA was only -4 at BYU. Based on that, no line value here. although there is no way I bet BYU.

Reno is one of those teams everybody gets up for. They have all the flash with their offense and can easily hang 60 on you if you let them. This is a ho hum Saturday afternoon in Provo, no national tv audience with controversy all over the Mormon campus and a hungry team looking to atone for it's past failures against BYU.
This is not your Daddy's BYU teams of the past. I know it's tough to bet State in this spot as they are usually a double digit road dog in these spots, but this second year head coach has the Aztecs playing really well. Sure they can lay an egg but I really feel they can do some damage here. Just my .02.Comment
