Its time to play Pick the ACC Choke Job of the Week!
This week we have 3 contestants:

    Contestant #1: Florida State -7 @ Virginia.

Florida State, your last meeting with Virginia resulted in a 33-0 victory. Now, fresh off a shutout victory over Wake Forest, you head to Charlottesville to play a team with a first-year head coach breaking in a new offense! Which Christian Ponder will show up? Which defense will show up?

Contestant #2: Maryland -7.5 vs. Duke.

Maryland, you somehow managed to defeat Navy despite being dominated in that game by every conceivable measure! Now at 3-1 you have a home game against a Duke team featuring the worst defense in the conference! They gave up 54 points to Wake Forest and 62 points to Alabama, and are fresh off a home loss to Army! Will your offense be able to keep you in front of the Blue Devils?

Contestant #3: North Carolina -13.5 vs. East Carolina.

UNC! Butch Davis has turned your program from bad to a disgrace! I guess when everybody talked about how stacked with NFL talent your team was, the players took that to mean they were allowed to have agents! After a home loss to an egregiously one-dimensional Georgia Tech team, your quarterback, TJ Yates "led" your team to victory by the skin of its teeth against Big East also-ran Rutgers! Now you've got a matchup with ECU, a mid-major with a defense so porous even Virginia Tech could defeat! Your receivers will be open, will Yates be able to find them? Have the twin scandals of agent money and academics reached your basketball team as well?

Folks at home, you be the judge! Decide which of these three favorites will lose straight up! Vote today!

I agree with the profit. I can definitely see NC losing ATS before FSU and Maryland.

I vote Maryland chokes. They are not that good at defending the pass. It could be a shootout and Duke wins.
But Virginia ALWAYS pulls off an upset that they have no business winning. You just don't know what game they do that.

I am not playing it---but man, those 13 look good. UNC just doesn't look good this year.

It's never a bad idea to take a dog in any ACC game except against Virginia Tech, so options 1 and 2 are both good. Option 3 doesn't count because it is not an ACC game.

FSU wins in a rout. They are 11-0 on their last 11 vs Virginia. Virginia this year couldn't beat a varsity team.

But NC is a ton of points to cover vs ECU.

You have to be insane to bet on Duke.

Not quite sure where youre getting your info from pavyracer.... UVA beat FSU in 2005 in Charlottesville when FSU was ranked #4 in the nation. And your point on UVA not being able to beat a varsity team? Some would argue that UVa shouldve won the only game they lost this year in the game vs USC when a fake punt pass was called incomplete when really it was a completion. Changed the whole game and UVa only lost by what, 3 points? The ref who was working that game was suspended for missing that call.

I left them out because the Miami/Clemson game is more of a tossup while FSU, Maryland, and UNC should in theory be able to win comfortably. I actually think Miami isn't that bad they only lost at OSU by 12 in a game where OSU got 17 pts off INTs.

The other three, on the other hand, I'm absolutely convinced one of them will lose straight up and considering their opponents a loss would be a pretty big embarrassment.

Florida State wins by 10+. Personally I locked 'em in at -7. Yes, Virginia is playing better than expected BUT their wins are against crap opponents, and the close game against USC was merely a product of them still lagging from the game AT Hawaii.

The Tar Heels look like the biggest chance at falling on their face. I'm really not sure why ECU is getting 13.5

And PS: I'm 6-1 on ACC bets this year

Since 2005, all ACC dogs in conference games are 139-101, 57.9% ATS. ACC dogs in conference games where Virginia Tech is not favored are 127-78, 62.0% ATS.
