I would think this would be closer to -7 than -3. I don't know what to think about this one. Do you think ND is just getting cred for being ND?

This line is going to get pounded so hard by the time Bodog finally gets around to posting it, the line will be so large I won't be able to get a moneyline on it. Stanford could be a 2 TD favorite by Friday.

You think the line is going to move 11 points?
How much do you want to bet it doesn't?
Is this your first year gambling?

Pac10 is a joke. Remember when Washington was going to beat Nebraska and Cal was going to beat Nevada? Well they both lost by a shitload.

Oh I definitely don't have any faith in Pac-10 defenses, but ND's defense is pretty bad too. Stanford's offense, however, seems more consistent. Against a bad Wake Forest defense last weekend they scored TDs on 10 of their 11 possessions.

Stanford has without question looked very impressive thus far, but their competition has been certifiably horrendous.

Arizona beats Iowa. Arizona State comes within a blocked field PAT of knocking off Wisconsin at Camp Randall. Both top 10 teams. UCLA beats Houston convincingly (granted their top 2 QB's got knocked out). Most pro analysts agree this was a banner weekend for the Pac 10.

ND played a tougher schedule than Stanford. As far as I'm concerned Stanford could be another Cal or Washington. They haven't played anyone yet.

Stanford is good, but they are traveling and still vulnerable in this spot. If the line hits 7, I'm jumping on Notre Dame. Should be a good game.

Your rationale, yet again, is lacking. What do Cal and Washington have to with Stanford playing this weekend in South Bend?
Jake Locker, nor Kevin Riley will be under center.
Andy Ludwig, nor Steve Sarkisian will be running the offense.
Clancy Penderghast, nor Dave Holt will be manning the defensive calls.
What you have here is Andrew Luck and Jim Harbaugh constituting one of the best coached, and prepared offensive attacks in the country outisde of Tuscaloosa or Boise. Vic Fangio has his pro-style, Okie defense going well, too.
Yeah, keep talking about Cal and Washington -- brilliant reasoning.
For you, what'll it be this time: Pac-10 (+3) at Notre Dame?

This is one of the few times I would ever bet against Notre Dame in South Bend. Stanford is playing with such POWER so far this season. Notre Dame has gone the other way, not living up to our expectations.
Stanford will crush the Irish. Bet the line early if you like Stanford (although the public may hold the line low regardless because of the public ND following).

Don't sell ND short this week. Stanford has done everything right so far. Nd went into Michigan ST. and more than held their own. Kelly will be given time to get things together, he will not let this team give up on the season. This is a big game for ND, and I think they will rise to the occasion.

I am new at handicapping. What does YPP represent? Is that Yard Per Point? Also, where did you get those statistics.
Stanford only being a 4 poing favorite is the first one that stuck out at me this week. I live in south and not a big PAC 10 fan, but I think Stanford is for real this year. Smart, tough and well coached. Also, Stanford is better in the turnover department.

It takes Standford 9.2 yards to score a point. Therefore, they almost score 1 point per play since they avg a little over 7 yards per play. That's about efficient of an offense as it gets.

I think Stanford wins this one by at least 7. Remember these teams that go to the east coast time for a day game gets all messed up. It might be closer than we all think this week.

Zebo, note that there's only 3 weeks of stats so far, so be careful, you can't use these numbers as absolutes (yet), and they are not adjusted for Strength of Schedule, another important adjustment. Having said that, I think the trend indicates that -3.5 is a soft line. (and it's already been adjusted to -4.5)

The main reason the line is low is bc Stanford is 1-7 against ND in their last 8. 0-5 in South Bend. But that lone win was last year in Stanford 45-38. Granted they had Gerhart, but the Irish had Clausen and Tate. This is a new type of Cardinal squad these past few years, not to mention intelligent and tremendously well coached. Luck's maturity will make up for Gerharts absence. The Irish just wont score enough points. 38 - 27, Stanford wins and covers.
