Pitt is moving the wrong way for me to want to play. I was hoping there would be a bunch of "The U is back" backers and drive it up to 5. But now its down to 3

I don't think people give Miami enough credit from that Ohio State game. Jacory Harris threw 4 INTs that led to 17 OSU points in a game they lost by 12. Jacory will *not* cough it up that many times against a mediocre Pitt team. That being said, this game is just like last week: a bad Big East team vs. an inconsistent ACC team. No thanks.

I found this to be a good thing. From what I see more action is coming in on Miami, that could have been sharp action hitting the 3.5 moving it down to 3. I don't think the public bets enough openers to budge this line down.

I have to disagree with the bad Big East team comment. This team has the potential to win the Big East. All the hype on Pittsburgh died down after a game against Utah that they could have one where Dion Lewis had a pretty bad game early on. The thing is, that Utah game would have been a huge win @ Utah. This game will decide where Pitt goes this year. I will write this game up later and you can tell me what you think.

Well there is some RLM in the pitt game. I understand that. But from my getting more points stake, it is not good for me.

What up GMBJ.....Florida State at -16.5 if you can get it, and Air Force -13.5 are great plays this week (I have mini-write ups in my thread - see sig).

Also looking at Virginia Tech -4 and Penn State.

Avoiding Bama, Stanford and Oregon like the plague this week haha.

congrats on the good week bro. I think your on the money with pitt on thursday night. Since it will be hard not to make a play on the weekday games you could play both dogs. This weekend I am looking at Arkansas +7, Temple +15 already coming down, Fresno St +3 also looks good. Look forward to see what you come up with.

One of my favorite under the radar games of the week. This FIU team is one of my favorite teams to bet on. If you don't know about FIU then you are probably scratching your head, but just hear me out. FIU decided to play football with the big boys back in 2005. Ever since then this program has been feeding these kids to some of the toughest competition around. The crazy part is they have been competing with them and covering the number a large amount of the time. In 2005 they decided to kick this thing off @ Kansas St where they were posted as 33 point dogs and managed to lose by only 14. The following weak they got pasted @ Texas Tech in a 56-3 beatdown. Then in 2006 they managed to get four real tough road games. They lost by just one point @ South Florida as 20 point dogs, lost by just four @ Maryland as 20.5 point dogs and then a few weeks later played @ Miami and Alabama where they did get beatdown but not embarrassed. Yes, 38-3 and 35-0 are scores you don't want to lose by but that Miami game they lost 35-0 and it was just 7-0 at half. Then @ Alabama they managed to escape the first quarter with a 3-0 lead and were trailing just 10-3 at halftime. Sure, they went on to lose 38-3 but come on, they were supposed to lose by 50. In 2007 they again stepped up to play @ Penn State where they got blown out 59-0. The following week they got Maryland to come play in Florida and they lost 26-10 but covered the number. They got a rematch @ Miami and lost a 23-9 game where they easily covered a 32 point spread. They then got blasted @ Kansas the following week 55-3 and then a few weeks later @ Arkansas 58-10. In 2008 they covered the rematch @ Kansas and the following week got blown out 42-0 @ Iowa. South Florida came to town and again FIU covered a 29.5 point spread losing just 17-9. Last year they got to play @ Alabama again and covered a 33.5 point spread, covered a 16.5 point spread @ Rutgers and then late in the year got pounded by Florida 62-3. So why am I telling you the FIU program history? Well if you haven't noticed this team came into this thing saying "hey let's just go play the best and see what happens." If you notice the ACC teams and Big East teams tend to have a tough time with FIU. The confidence has been building for years despite losing seasons and they won't go into games scared. They showed this year despite another 0-2 start they lost 14-19 against Rutgers and lost 20-27 @ Texas A&M. Yea, they covered easily in both games too. Mary;and met them twice as 20+ point favorites and won by a combined score of 40-20. Maryland has shown some ability on defense. They stalled WVU for a while and contained Navy in the red zone perfectly. I just think the FIU motivation coming into this game will lead to yet another low scoring, closer then expected game. Everyone is already pounding Maryland and I expect this line to keep rising. However, I am going to take it here just because I don't think it will reach the key number of 14.

I am a Rutgers fan and trust me, Rutgers is no good. They struggled against both Norfolk State and Florida International. Tom Savage isn't anything through the air yet and will have big problems against a good defense like this UNC defense. I don't care who is suspsended come Saturday this line is ridiculous. They played Georgia Tech and LSU without them and put up good fights against both. Rutgers doesn't even belong in the same conversation. Sure Rutgers will find their six wins and probably make a bowl game but this game isn't one of them. I don't know what to tell you but I will be EXTREMLEY shocked if we see a Rutgers upset.

I like the FIU play. Someone just asked me about Maryland in this one in another thread. I think I'll wait until close to the weekend, this line should keep going up. +12 is great, but I'm eying +14

I'm resisting USC -23 right now. Against Washington State, surely they won't start the year 0-4 ATS right

                                        Why BYU?

I'm a local here and right now I wouldn't lay a penny on BYU. This is not the same BYU team as in years past. Although now that Nielson is injured and they will have to use Heaps as a full time QB, I think they can get better. I just dont see them beating a solid Nevada team this week or even staying close. The only games I see BYU winning this year is Colorado St., New Mexico, Utah State (close game), Wyoming, UNLV, and maybe San Diego St. (close game). TCU and Utah will destroy them. The only way I see Nevada not covering this game is the let down factor. I believe this number is mainly because BYU has been a decent team in the past, it should be at atleast 10. Good Luck to you.

I'm resisting USC -23 right now. Against Washington State, surely they won't start the year 0-4 ATS right
That Maryland line is interesting. I can see it moving down, up, or even holding strong. I highly doubt it will hit +14 which is why I decided to just grab it now. I see it is -11 a few places right now. Yea as soon as you said USC -23 my eyes lit up. I completley missed this game on the board and just played it now at -22. Washington State is miserable and I would be surprised if USC doesn't put their foot down finally.

I know BYU isn't what they have been in years past, I do realize that. But, there is something I can't figure out about making a great home team a dog at home against a WAC team. The BYU defense impressed me against Washington, I think they have a good chance to slow this Nevada offense. I think Nevada is being overvalued after a big win against Cal. Also, I agree this could be a let down spot in a tough enviornment for Nevada.

If you really want to feel like you're getting slow head on Saturday then you really should switch that Arky pick to Bama. People are over-dramatizing the whole Mallett vs. Bama's young DB's thing. The truth is, they are not that young and not that inexperienced. Menzie has 2 years of JUCO under his belt before coming to Bama as the #1 ranked DB in all of JUCO, Phelon Jones transferred from LSU where his talent was fine (coaching terrible), Mark Barron is the best free roaming safety in the land, and Dre Kirkpatrick has the best cover skills on the team. We will also be running a lot of 6 DB sets and force Arky to run. If the 'backs can't run, which I totally expect, then they are in for a long day. We have the best front seven in the country, a ridiculous O-line, a heisman rb (who might not be as good as his backup), and, oh yeah...a qb that has NEVER lost a game. Am I forgetting anything? Wait...our supposed weakness, the defensive backfield....coached by the best DB coach in the country...Nick Saban.

I'm not going to say I told you so, 'cause you are probably going to win money on your other picks and still be in the black. My pick wasn't based on Arkansas and Ryan Mallet tearing up these defensive backs. I think Alabamas defense will be just fine actually. I am expecting a game played in the 40's. Maybe 24-20 or something to that effect. I think Alabama's team was much better last year and I think Arkansas is just below them this year.
