Let's get to it.....
MISSISSIPPI/VANDERBILT - OVER 43-
The Rebels have had a lackluster start to the season, failing to cover against Tulane and losing outright at home to Jacksonville State (?!). Don't blame it on QB Masoli, who transferred in from Oregon. He's looked impressive. He's slippery and has completed nearly 70% of his passes. Look for him to try to continue to impress those cute southern belles in Oxford with a big performance this week. Ole Miss should score into the 30s. Vandy meanwhile looked sluggish offensively last week, but that was against the rugged defense of LSU. They should finally get their attack in gear against this softer Reb D. This is a relatively low total. I mean, come on, Jacksonville State put up 49 points of their own against Ole Miss. Play it over!
DUKE/ALABAMA - UNDER 57-
Duke has put up some numbers so far this season, averaging 44.5 ppg. However, they did it against the likes of Elon and Wake Forest. Today they face the stiffest defense they'll see all year. Last week Bama held an ambitious Penn State team to 3 points. Expect more of the same in this one. The Tide will pound the rock, control the clock, and win this one easily. Well under.
WASHINGTON/NEBRASKA - UNDER 53
The Huskie's are gonna be sky-high for the Huskers in this one. Trouble is, Nebraska is the stronger team....and should be able to dictate how the game is played. What they'll want to do is keep stud QB Locker off the field. To do so, they'll run, run, and run again. And why not? They're averaging 323 ypg on the ground. This should make for a game where the clock keeps ticking. When Locker and the Huskies do get the ball, they're gonna be up against one of the top defenses in the country. Should be a good game, but not a shootout. Under.
WYOMING/BOISE - OVER 53
Gonna keep this write-up simple: I think the Broncos will eclipse 53 on their own.
WESTERN KENTUCKY/INDIANA - OVER 63
The Hilltoppers have dropped 22 straight. Ugh! You know what though? They're gaining confidence. So far this season they've faced Nebraska and Kentucky, both on the road. Of course they were torched in both, but now they play their first home game and they won't be overly intimidated. The Hoosiers are the weakest team they've seen. The problem for the Hilltoppers is they have the worst defense in college football. Indiana will light up the scoreboard on them. Surprisingly, Western Ky's offense has started to make strides. I see them giving a spirited effort in this one and actually piling up some points. Doubtful they will win, but the total should go into the 70s or even 80s.
As always, best of luck.
