Gophers are bad...and USC has been far from impressive. I think USC should cover but I'm not sure I'd put money on it...

Sharp action coming in heavy on Minny. Pinnacle on Minny so of course I'll take USC.
Actually I was all over Virgina getting 20 last week because USC had played in Hawaii the week before. They played tired. This week they have to watch that film and come Saturday they are ready for a Minny team that doesnt tackle and struggles to get first downs. USC runs the ball hard and shuts down Minny coasting to a 30 - 10 type win.

You could always tease USC and Wisconsin, two teams that *SHOULD* win by 2tds+ but might not.

I think SBR John has it about right. Southern Cal just has far better players than Minny.
I have absolutely nothing against USC, but I cannot stomach that back stabbing, sleezbag coach. With the loss of 30 scholarships for the Trojans....thank God he will be gone in a few years.

Total newb-type of question here John. Why would you take the opposite of Pinn and the sharps? Isn't the goal of a handicapper to figure out where the sharps ARE betting and 'follow the money' so to speak (in this case, sharps are on Minn b/c the line is dropping DESPITE heavy public play)? Not questioning your play, just curious - still trying to learn.

Yes, and yes.
Last week I got burned by going against them....thankfully I've already forgotten the game.
Actually I think the important part is to find out why the sharps are doing what they are doing. In the Alab game they were correctly calculating that Alab would wear down the ineffective Penn St offense and that 11 points just wasn't enough.
In this game I think they saw USC against Hawaii and Virgina and concluded this team is a stiff unworthy of a double digit favorite status against a Minny team that will be sky high for this one. The Virgina game is a throw out due to the travel schedule from Hawaii. This is game 3 and the first game USC is well rested for. It makes a huge difference but Pinny and the sharps are playing what they saw on the field the past two weeks. I dont blame them but I'm still betting hard against them.

As a gopher fan, I can say that I would be very impressed if they are capable of covering. Last week was abysmal. A few notes on the gophers side though (I will be at the game btw):
-Two new safeties (freshman/juco trasfer) playing the last two weeks due to our senior starters being out (one due to injury, other due to suspension). Kyle Theret, our defensive captain will be back this week which will make a big difference.
-Matt Garin returns this week as well. Our D-End's couldn't create any pressure at all, so this should be very helpful also.
I think the line might be so low because the gophers should be able to put up some points. The offense has not looked too bad and after two games, they are 1st in the nation in time of possession (I realize they played MTSU and SD). The USC defense has not been anything special so far this year. The Gophers are notorious for playing down to their opponents level. I don't even think I can make a play on this game, but if I did, I would take the over. I have a feeling that there will be several long touchdowns.

Brewster's no genius either. He's gone 1-2 from FCS school's from the Dakota's in his 3+ years and the villagers are already trying to run him out of town up here.

USC is looking to make up for their poor showings the last couple weeks and they've found a team in Minnesota that will allow them to do just that. Minnesota will be down after losing to a team that was Division 2 a few short years ago. They may try to rally the troops to beat the Trojans because of USC's reputation but that won't last when USC starts putting up the points to get their rep back.
