    BoS_010 NCAAF Week 2 Plays
    YTD- 1-6-0 (-6.7 Units)

    Friday September 10
    Marshall/WVU u46 (1U)
In order for Marshall to compete in this game they will have to get the running game going and try their best to keep the clock moving, even with Darius Marshall out of the picture. Last weeks performance was poor to say the least (21 carries for 44 yards) but Ward accounted for 38 of them on only six carries for somewhat of a bright spot. With three returning the starters, their O-line is more than capable of creating holes for the RBs who will try their best not to get in a shootout with WVU. Yes WVU is caoable of scoring (some people say they will score 46 themselves) but I think Marshall competes enough to stay under the total and close to the 12-points as well. First year coach Holliday does not want to get embarrassed in his first two games, especially his home opener, and although QB Geno Smith looked good last week for WVU, I think they too a heavy dose of Noel Devine which helps in eating the clock as well. Even though OSU's O made it look easy, Marshall is bringing back 7 defensive starters who are able to keep this game competitve.

Half of me feels bad for Marshall blowing the game. There was absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have won. The other half of me is pissed how they fell into the trap of playing a prevent defense aka no defense with a two-score lead in the 4th quarter. If it's not broke why fix it? It boggles my mind the amount of teams who take the foot off the gas defensively and blow games.
In other news, it's about time I catch a break, even though the total should have never flirted with 46.

NCAAF YTD- 2-6-0 (-5.7 Units)- still ugly but determined to turn it around

I'm waiting for the public to bring it down a little more. Even though I'm a big fan of Jacory Harris of Miami I don't think they are ready for this stage just yet.

I don't want to put much emphasis on last weeks games for these two teams, considering they didn't play against great competition but two stats stood out for me in the Oklahoma game. The first being third down. Going 5-17 (29%) verse a mediocre team like Utah State is not going to build confidence for a team. Neither is allowing 421 yards (341 in the air). Obviously they are a better team that what they showed last week but they will have to be much better when FSU comes in returning 9 starters on offense, including QB Christian Ponder. Oklahoma QB Landry Jones did not impress me one bit, and I think he will have another tough outing today verse a FSU defense that will be preprared for battle with the help of first year DC Mark Stoops. They might only have 6 returning starters but with the core of the LBs back and talent across the board, I believe FSU stays within the 7 and a possible outright win, especially if they are able to prevent the big play for Oklahoma and control their running game (195 yards on 45 attempts last week for a 4.3 avg), which I believe they are capable of doing.

                Saturday Updated Leans:
                South Carolina -3
It all starts with the QB, and I think the redshirt freshman Murray gets rattled
                Wake Forest -5 (light)
                Ohio State -8.5 (light)
Finally jumped on the Pryor bandwagon. Miami isn't ready just yet for this type of spotlight.
                Michigan State -26.5 (light)
                Rice/North Texas u58 (downgraded to possible 1, 2-unit play)

Not a lot of time but in short...like I said before I think Murray has trouble deciphering the South Carolina D. Georgia is also installing a 3-4 D. Although they have the talent to play it effectively, it will take some time to get 100% comfortable with it. Look for SC to expose Georgia's secondary who returns only 1 starter in Boykin. It will definitely be a team effort for SC to come out on top (look for Jeffery to have another big game and for Lattimore to grow up a little more today) and Spurrier finally has the talent to do some damage not only on D but O as well.
