Side 1) Boise State would get smacked if they were in the SEC, but they play a patty cake schedule.
Side 2) You can only win the games on your schedule, send them to the championship.
Look, I don't think Boise State would get pimp smacked if they played Oklahoma, Virginia Tech or anybody else for that matter. They already proved that they can beat the big boys...
but this isn't the NFL... You have to basically go undefeated to win the championship. Beating a bunch of WAC teams and then getting it up, game planning, and winning 1 or 2 hard games per year is MUCH easier than playing a regular season against the Florida's, LSU's, Alabamas and Georgias of the world.
Look, lets face it, if you are going to play 10-11 games in a year, you are going to have some "off days"... Maybe a long road trip, maybe injuries, maybe your guys are just having a bad day... You have a bad day against Wyoming and you can still win... You have a bad day against LSU and you get your ass beat.
It's very possible that Boise State would be 8-3 in the SEC, losing some road games or games in which they just weren't there... but because of the schedule... they beat some panzies and then get a couple hard games and they can be champs?
What if the roles were reversed, and Florida had Boise State's schedule, you don't think they would go undefeated with that schedule?
Style points are going to come into play. If they beat some of those dumpy teams by 10 points etc. then people will be angry and see right through them. Boise State is going to have to run up the score on the dumpy teams to have a right to play in the title game.
