The only CFB game on the card tonight. That 16 point line is a bit heavy for me in week 1. Thinking over 61 is the play. Thoughts?

Taking Arizona line. Offensive line for Arizona is to big for Toledo. Average weight Arizona 324. Average D line weight Toledo- 262. Nose Tackle in the 3-4 is only 272. Got to like Arizona to just be able to mash the ball all night and wear them down. Although they do run a spread. Toledo average line weight is 280 compared to Arizona D line weight of 273. Toledo does have more returning starters and experience on the offensive line but Arizonas D line is going to be much harder to move then the other way around. Arizona returns alot of skill positions on offense. With that said I think they cover the line. The o/u is a much tougher call.

Arizona vs. Toledo
Toledo had a great offense last year and they should put up pretty big numbers in this one. I am very surprised that a PAC 10 team is going to a MAC school but that is just another advantage to Toledo. Also Arizona opened against a MAC school last year and they had a very hard time beating them at home. Arizona is 2-7 against the spread in their last 9 on the road. The Rockets return one of the most experienced offensive lines in the nation. C Kevin Kowalski, OTs Mike VanDerMeulen and John Morookian, and G Nate Cole have a combined 99 starts. Toledo starts a new quarterback in Austin Dantin, however he has a productive supporting cast as the Rockets offense was ranked 16th in the nation last year. Toledo's defense has been it's achilles heel for the last number of years. This season the linebackers have more depth and should be stronger. The secondary is improved and if Toledo's upgraded defense can get a few stops early, Toledo will easily cover the spread. I like Toledo at home with the points.

These 2 teams played at Toledo in 2008 and Arizona won 41-16. Arizona has a really solid offense this year. Their defense is going to be young though. Toledo's defense was terrible last year. Their defense allowed 38 points and 407 per game. The secondary should be better as they started 3 true freshmen last year, so they have gotten at least some experience. While Toledo's offensive line is experienced, their sophomore qb isn't. Toledo had a losing record last year at 5-7 playing MAC competition. Arizona was 8-4 playing PAC-10 competition. Their 4 losses were all close games as well. They lost at Iowa by 10, at Washington by 3, at Cal by 8, and by 3 against Oregon. Their offense should be really good and has a lot of experience. The defense however, is young and vulnerable.

In that situation I think I would have to go with the Arizona


If zona is up big at the half I don't know if Tol can make a big come back so I would feel safe with AZ at the half.


If Toledo is hanging tough at the half I could see the AZ lines wearing them down in the second half and stretching the lead.


The only way I would feel real comfy with Toledo is if they were almost tied or leading going into the half.


I think there will be a less chance of wanting to bail on the play with the AZ side.

Zona takes this one, but that spread is tough. College football is tough for any team on the road, especially in the first game of the season. Weather could make it hard to cover - this looks like a no bet to me, although I'm tempted to throw money on the Zona ML. It's moving lower, it hits -600 and I'll make a small play.

If you are eligible for this promotion, I think this is a great analysis of of how to play it. If it looks at all questionable, just cancel it. Arizona definitely seems like the play on this. Even if its tie at half, you couldn't really be confident on Toledo.

Never had the chance to cancel at halftime before. Kind of doing it just because I can.

Got Ari -16 (instead of 16.5). If they aren't up big at the half I'll just cancel. It'll make watching the game (at least the 1st half) worth it.
