who cares? There are no Darkhorses in college football because there is no National Champion. There are a trillion pointless bowl games that have no value and that is all

IMO Va Tech will make some noise this year. I would like to see Nebraska's swan song go well too and I think Pelini is building a beast slowly up there.
THere will be no surprises in the SEC. all of this Ark, 'Barn, and South Carolina talk can go ahead and stop now. Its pretty obvious it will be Bama from the west and probably UF from the east. UF shouldnt have too tough of a road considering that the SEC east is very down

Pitt is so shaky at Qb. Prolly lose a few because of that position this year.

Stanford is a viable contender if they can run the Pac-10-table.
Their offense really only loses Gerhart, but the top-2 behind him are VHT true sophomores who received some good experience last year.
Konrad Reuland repalces Jim Dray.
Owusu and Whalen are back.
Having one of the 2nd-most proficient offense in the Land last season, the best quarterback, and Vic Fangio to run a better-suited defense should with Keiser and Leuders on the edge could all help the Cardinal in making a surprising run.

Additionally: I almost hate to do it, but I think Brian Kelly's moving into a ridiculously good situation. His offense, even when adjusted properly and filtered through an objective lens, has been top-5 nationally since '07. Notre Dame's offense was actually the #3-rated offense in the country in terms of proficiency per footballoutsiders.com.
Clausen's gone, but Dayne Crist is a blue-chipper as well.
He brings Bob Diaco with him to run a unit that seems to be even better when lined-up in a 3-4. The linebacking crew is stacked so much so that Steve Filer will probably be a back-up yet again, because Manti Te'o is likely the best LB in the country right now, and arguably could be a 1st-rounder after his true sophomore season if it was possible.
He now has a roster with Parade All-Americans at 3rd-string.
I don't know.
I'm curious.

Va. Tech if they get by Boise St. Wisconsin is not even a dark horse=black cow waiting to be butchered. Please prove me wrong though.

Agree. How often does the first game of the season make or break a season for a big time program. Most schedule a warm-up or two.
This is also a season-making game for Boise as well now that they have national title hopes (whether they are realistic is a subject for a different thread).

There is Boise State--then there is everyone else. Boise will be ranked in the top 5 in the early released rankings and they will go undefeated yet again this season which will land them in the title game and they, Boise will be the 2010-2011 BCS National Champions.
