I've heard from Rivals.com that Spurriers agent contacted A&M about the job opening.

I've heard from a players fathers that its Tedford

I've heard from people inside the AD that its Tubberville and he will resign after their game.

I've heard from friends with ties in the AD that Sherman will be announced once the Board of Regents signs off on it. They also said the players were told on Tuesday (which they deny).

All the Peterson talk originated from TexAgs.

At the end of the day, I believe that no one really knows, but I may be wrong.

    My List Personally:
    1. Spurrier
    2. Tedford
    3. Tubberville
    4. Sarkisian
    5. C.Strong
    6. Muschamp
    7. Sherman
    8. Peterson
    9. Leach
    10. A. Briles

Thats pretty much every name ever associated with A&M in the rumors department.

My contact told me Spurrier deal fell through, he thought over a money issue.

      Tubberville's contract was to high.

Trust me i knew before the game through my contact that Fran would resign and not coach in the bowl game.

Dont forget Sherman coached at ATM in early 90's. If i have to pick Sherman or Peterson, I see positives in both, not sure who I would pick.

Mind if I ask who your contact is or how close he is to the AD. Im not high on either candidate to be honest with you

Honestly I dont know the guy, I am going through a friend that is well connected at ATM. I didnt not even ask him who his contact was, (I knew better)

Yeah sucks on the Spurrier deal. I didnt want Tubberville. I have been reading up on Peterson, I think he would be a good fit. I think Sherman would make a bigger impact fast in the recruiting game. PLUS Sherman might bring in a NFL defensive staff, not that I would LOVE. Good way to bring back the RECKING CREW

Fran has just been a jerk to too many programs, he left tcu before their bowl game, and now he is doing it to ATM, he will be coaching high school football soon if he doesnt watch himself

A&M is a well respected program and will get a good coach no doubt. They has enough talent this year to challenge for the Big12 but didn't. Fran is an a$$wipe that not many will want in the top 50 schools. I think his run is over and will coach a lesser school will he will have to perform and the school name will not guarantee a certain amount of recruits...

Provider, I was at Kyle Field yesterday afternoon, and there were only about 75,000 people who knew BEFORE the game that Fran would resign/be canned after the game was over, regardless of who won or lost.

                        From Another Board:

A Learjet registered to ADAM AVIATION LTD LLP of Bryan took off from CLL to BWI & has returned or is en route back to CLL. FWIW, Annapolis is just a very short freeway drive from BWI. Perhaps a visit with Paul Johnson of the US Naval Academy?

ESPN said that sources within the AD said that they expected it to be a quick hire & Mark Turgeon, A&Ms basketball coach, came to College Station before the job was offered.

                        ..Maybe

I like Paul Johnson. Not my #1 candidate of course, but he's doing good things at Navy. He ran a spread-offense at Hawaii and now an option-based run heavy attack at Navy. I like how he calls games and coaches up his team - however Id prefer a proven coach in big games.

I would prefer a bigger name coach that will help with recuriting right off the batt. thats why im leaning twards Chris Peterson, he will be able to bring in speed and posistion players at WR to go with Goodsen. Also would help us bring in some good QB's, Magee is not the answere for the spread O. I have pretty much talked my self into wanting Peterson, I head his coaching history on BOST's website.

You can't be an Aggie to start with then. They could hire bin Laden as the Athletic Director and I wouldn't turn into a 'horns fan. In fact, I wish we were hiring a new AD as well right now as Byrne is a sack of crap in my book.

I don't understand the rush to replace Franchione. Guess if they have someone in mind and he's available, grab him, but someone solid could become available in the next 7-14 days so why rush it this weekend or this week? Either Johnson or Peterson would be ok with me, but I'd like to see them dig a little deeper and longer before making the decision.

Sources: Texas A&M expected to name Sherman as football coach

11:31 PM CST on Sunday, November 25, 2007

By BRIAN DAVIS / The Dallas Morning News
                                  brdavis@dallasnews.com

Assuming there are no unforeseen snags, Mike Sherman is expected to be named the next head football coach at Texas A&M University, multiple sources told The Dallas Morning News on Sunday.

An official announcement could come as early as Monday.

A&M spokesman Alan Cannon said late Sunday, "I have not received anything new regarding the head football coaching search."

Sherman, 52, served as A&M's offensive line coach in the 1990s, but he's currently the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Houston Texans. He declined to comment about the A&M opening after the Texans lost to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Texans spokesman Tony Wyllie said he could not confirm Sherman's status.

                                  etc etc etc
                                  ==================

Liucci and the MW guys were right. Everyone hates the move, but I've been reading up on the guy, he seems like hes gonna be a good guy for A&M.

I'd rather have Peterson or Johnson, but anyone is better than the sack of crap we've had for the last five years.
