Zboiz we start early this year......we may only return 1 starter, however our 2nd string got as many reps as the starters....And our defense will have better athletes this year than last....If they gell as a team Bama's D will be scary and that spells Doom for the rest of the SEC and Nation

Everyone keeps making a big deal about the lack of "returning starters" for Bama on D. Well if you were to ever follow a Bama game outside of O-line and QB it doesnt really matter who starts because they all play a significant amount of reps. Just look at the guy that Kiper and McDouche are all over....Marcell Dareus. He is considered this huge NFL prospect for next year but yet has only "started" maybe the last 2 games if not just the title game. In Sabans system the starter is nothing more than something to give the media for the gameday program. I remember games last year where Ingram would go long stretches without seeing the field.

So everyone that wants to kill Bama about the lack of returning "starters" on D needs to realize that this is a very expierenced Defense coming back with one of the best Defensive coaches in college football. DB is the only position where I could see some potential trouble but the aggresive pass rush will take the heat off of the DB's.

eh...Auburn will be interesting to watch. They should have some offensive power but no so sure on the defensive side. Arkansas has the same issue. You never count out Houston Nutt totally because then he will bite your butt. And Dan Mullens looks like he is going to be a nice little coach. Im with you jw on the defensive thing....bama may have lost 8 or 9 starters on defense, but they had way more than 11 starters on that side of the ball...I have already made my case to family and friends this year that defense will be BETTER this year...I honestly believe and and stand by it...no drop in talent and a one two punch at running back keeps them off of the field.

Their talent is CRAP, so do not give me any more B.S. about them being on the same talent level as Alabama, or Auburn, or Arkansas, because they are not close to it. They have garbage for an offense. LSU will lose at least 4 games this season, and maybe 6. The future of LSU football is not very bright. Miles is certainly not the best coach in the conference, but with their talent level, Saban or Meyer could not win more than 9 games. YOu clowns are even a dog to North Carolina. An ACC team. How does that feel?

But Im not trying to say it is definite, im simply making a prediction about the defense. An educated guess that says the defense will be better. I hope they win the big game (that would make a great last two seasons for me as a student there) but what are the chances of winning it once, much less two times in a row especially with the way the BCS works making luck a big factor in deciding a champion.

Well, I believe Saban is signed thru 2016 and even if he does not honor the contract and stays the max time of 6 yrs you suggest that will still be 3 more yrs of torment for the SEC West.

Saban has made comments that this is his last job. I know talk is cheap, but it seems reasonable. He ain't going back to the NFL and what better place to coach college football than Alabama?

Oh, I didn't mean it had no importance winning the West. Obviously that is the first step in any potential championship season. It does not have much importance if you don't win the SEC Championship (NATIONAL CHAMPIONSIP....I MEAN..LOL)


You can still have a fine season but in the end it's all about being in the hunt and winning a Chamionship and that goes thru in Atlanta... And I will be there.
