Does Colt Brennan has a legit shot at the Heisman Trophy?
I see right now at TheGreek that Colt Brennan is currently at +1000 to win the Heisman Trophy this year. I really want to pull the trigger and take my chances with him, but my big concern is the fact that he's not on TV enough and plays in bad conference.

All thoughts are more than welcome on this one.

In case anyone is curious about all the odds on this prop bet, here they are courtesy of TheGreek:

    Code:
    701 Ray Rice +2000
    702 Darren McFadden +1400
    703 Colt McCoy
    704 Anthony Morelli
    705 CJ Spiller
    706 Percy Harvin
    707 John David Booty

    709 Mike Hart +1500
    710 Chad Henne
    711 Jonathan Stewart +2500
    712 Steve Slaton +2000
    713 Pat White +2000
    714 Chase Daniel +5000
    715 Colt Brennan +1000
    716 Tim Tebow +300
    717 Matthew Stafford

Save your money. I have a better shot at winning the Heisman. His numbers are way down from last year, and he was less than impressive against SJST in one of his few appearances on national television.

You can't throw 5 picks against Idaho, one of the worst teams in D-1, and win the Heisman. Brennan has no chance.

I got Tebow +1200 before the season .... looking better and better each week.

      No.

Personally, I believe Hawaii may well lose 1 or 2 games in November to WAC opponents (they are home against Fresno State on 11/10/07, at Nevada on 11/16/07 (on ESPN2), and home against Boise State on 11/23/07 (on ESPN2)). If that happens, especially if it's on national TV, and especially if it's ugly, I expect that Colt Brennan is going to pretty much fall off the Heisman radar.

I don't really make these sorts of bets, but, if you are looking for something around +1000, how about grabbing Dennis Dixon (+1200) before Oregon plays USC?

And, by the way, Tebow at +1200 is awesome rjt721. Nice pick.

Being from Hawaii, I'm a little biased. We do get to see him play weekly, compared to the majority of Heisman voters and the general public. RJT is right, his numbers are way down from last year. There are some reason though. One, he lost 3, 5 year starters on offense to the NFL. Two, teams know of him and the system, conference teams are getting used to game planning a defense against him with this the second, and third game he's played against WAC teams. I really think he should've won the Heisman last year. The three games he lost, he lost them all on last plays of the game, and they were all road games. RJT too bad Colt is a Senior this year, Hawaii opens up against Florida next year, that would be nice to see Tebow and Brennan on the same field. I really don't think he'll win this year. Hawaii's AD screwed up big time on this years schedule. With a month or two until start of season, he didn't even have 2007 schedule completed yet, hence the reason Frazier (AD) had to schedule 2 Div 1-AA teams this year, with only one win counted towards the overall BCS standings. Big screw up there, however most of it wasn't his fault. 2 BCS schools pulled out of games for 2007 back in 2005 and 2006. Texas and Michigan St. It's funny how all these BCS teams won't play Hawaii. Only conference that'll play Hawaii is Pac-10. And of course they're all jumping at the bit to schedule us now with Brennan being a Senior. I have to disagree with RJT on the SJSU game. I'd like to see Tebow, Woodson (UK), or any other Heisman contending quarterback go to a game where it's been raining all day long, raining mostly throughout the game, on a slow field, and throw for almost 600 yards. With your receivers dropping balls. You gotta give the guy credit for throwing up that much yards on a wet day. He puts up those numbers on a dry day/night.

As for what regular guy said about he forseeing Hawaii losing to a WAC opponent, I'd have to agree there. With close games coming at La Tech, SJSU, I'd have to say the game against Nevada is primed for an upset. Nevada is a tough place to play in Mid to late Nov. If they get past that one, Boise St and Washington remain. And I like Hawaii's chances at home against Fresno St, Boise St, and Washington. If he runs the table, he'll place 3rd maybe.

Oh by the way bigboydan, at the beginning of the season there was a prop bet out that I jumped on, and right now it's looking good. The bet was over/under 11 wins for a team. Only 2 teams were on that prop. USC and Hawaii, needless to say I took Hawaii.

One last thing I have to ask everyone here. If Hawaii were to finish undefeated, should they be given a BCS berth?

          Good question sir.

I personally don't think they will at all for the fact of their schedule is weak.

            Dan,

            I vote NO.

He doesnt come from a power conference. He isn't scheduled to play any big time opponents.

Hell, most of the people voting on the east coast are asleep before Hawaii plays on Saturdays when they're at home.

He is a very good QB.

It will be interesting to see if he translates well at the next level or if he proves to be a "system" wonderboy.

Brennan has no shot in my book. No one sees him play. That is half the battle right there.

                No. Little chance.

It seems like the Heisman is more of a popularity contest anyway.

Think Tebow has a greater chance anyway as well.

He is a productive QB. But He's playing in a poor conference so He does not have much chance. NO is my answer

I don't care about the Heisman, but imo he has no shot. I've seen him play a few times, and although his numbers are unbelieveable, he has not played well lately, lots of INT's and against mediocre teams

Hawaii should get a shot at the BCS undefeated and regardless Colt Brennan is a legitimate contender for the Heisman IMO. This is a somewhat unusual year in that there are no clear cut favorites with Hart and Michigan struggling. I would take that bet.
