Good luck BB. I'm also playing Rutgers on the ML. Also with you on Colorado.

In regard to the MSU/OSU game, how effective do you see MSU's running game being against the Buckeyes? I'm leaning MSU, but I can't get a good feel for how the running attack will fare against the best defense they've faced. Needless to say, if they can't run they're not covering.

well the MSU game comes down to both team's strengths. If MSU can establish the run, control the line of scrimmage, keep the play clock going, not the turn the ball over, and put up some points they should easily cover this game...maybe not win outright but a sure cover if they can do those things. So you have to ask yourself if you are going to bet them...can they do that? Generally, teams that win the rushing battle also cover spreads and MSU has a dominant rushing attack so if things hold to form they should cover this game if they can't get thier running game going it will be hard for them in the passing game.

However, OSU features a very strong rushing defense that should slow down MSU somewhat but how much...im just not sure not abuot that. OSU only allows 68.7 YDS on the ground (#6 in the nation) but anytime you have a small sample size and having played relatively weak competition it can be misleading. MSU has played a much stronger scheudule than OSU (33.7 vs 28.4 schedule strength rating). The one nice thing about this big spread is (1) OSU is not the dominant team offensively so covering big spreads is challenging and (2) big spread always means the backdoor is open for a late garabage TD. Another thing to consider is that these coaching staffs are well acquanted with one another which should seem to imply Tressel would not run up the score (c.f. Mack Brown vs. Gene Chizk) but he does have some pressure perhaps with the BCS standings the way they are but I may be overthinking things there.

I don't think I could play OSU and MSU is the only side I would consider but I'm going to have sleep on it a bit more. I've bet against MSU 4 times already this year (2-2 YTD) and this would be a spot I would take them...
