My LOCK of the Year

We were actually talking about this game back in June wondering what the line might be. I'm calling USC in an impressive romp.

Folks, 10-11 points is just not nearly enough. OK, I know USC takes a few games off each year but I strongly believe this is not one of them. Still, it is a risk.

The flat opener and the extra week of prep time set the table for this one. USC comes ready.

10 appears to be a small number, but USC is playing there first road game of the season, they are traveling to Lincoln, and Nebraska one of the best in the Big 12. 10 is no small number. It's actually pretty large for the situation.

Did anyone watch Nebraska last week ? They are going to have major problems stopping USC and their offense should struggle as well. I am with you John minus the "L" word.. good luck to all no matter what side you are on.

Actually my last 6 locks are 5-1 unless you count my one baseball lock then I'm 5-2 .

Neb is a vanilla team that can beat a lot of K. St types. And they have a good home field as well. Better if it was later in the year and weather was a factor.

However, when USC comes to play and wants to play they are a load. Their passing game worries me. They want to pass badly and they will force the pass. I'm sure you will see a lot of dink and dunk passes early and deeper shots later.

Other than that I think the Nebraska punter had better be well rested .

Nobody has more talent than mighty USC, but I'm not sure how anyone could consider them a lock in this spot when they lost twice last year as double digit road faves (Oregon St and UCLA). USC might be better than last year, but Nebraska is certainly better than OSU and UCLA were too.

USC is the best team in college ball. Many if not most of their curent first team defenders will one day be "playing on Sundays."

I'll pass on this game, tho. Nebraska has played (and won) two games already vs semi-respectable opponents (Nevada and Wake).

USC has had only one game, a virtual scrimmage against a horrendous team (Idaho). They could have won by 60 pts, but held the horses and won by only 28.

Practices don't equal real games, nor do scrimmages against extremely weak teams. Rust will be a major concern to the Trojans, and as noted they're on the road.

They may blow out Nebraska, but I wouldn't feel good having a wager in on this game. If I were going to bet I'd take the Huskers in the first half

On the NFL side, love 6 point teaser Bears-5 and over 28. Grossman plays much better at home and Chiefs may not get a first down. I know its the NFL, but this could be a blowout.

it's good that you have such a short memory, sign of a good gambler...I'm referring to the challenge you made a couple of years ago during college football where you ended up telling everyone that you were so confident in your picks that if you didn't win at least 2 of the three games, you'd give us all $100 in our BetCRIS account...safe to say I was $100 richer...

so I'm not sure if it was in your "lock" category or not, but it didn't cash...lastly, one would think that if the game was a true "lock" (notice you will never hear me say that word ever, along with the word "sucker bet") you wouldn't be worried about any facet of USC's game...

at any rate, we'll see how this game unfolds in about a day or so...

I'd at least give him a listen. I had USC giving points when it first came out, and then tripled down. It saved my week and pulled me into the black. I got hosed by 'Bama and TCU.
