SBR's Rob Paul breaks down the matchup in his early Auburn vs Oklahoma prediction:

Oklahoma -6.5 (-110)

"Both Freeze and Brent Venables are leaning on transfer QBs to save their jobs, and both have gotten off to a strong enough start thus far with Auburn and Oklahoma both ranked in the top 25. But Venables has the upper hand in this game, as the defensive guru has a deep familiarity with the Tigers' man behind center.

Last season, Arnold was in and out of the lineup as the Sooners' QB1 as the former blue-chip recruit struggled to find his form. So while his hot start for Auburn has given the fans hope on the Plains, his play should be taken with a grain of salt. He put up a 47.8 QBR for Oklahoma last season, and his passing has been sporadic for Auburn this year against three teams that rank outside the top 70 in SP+ on defense. The Sooners rank No. 5 in SP+ and No. 1 in EPA per pass on defense.

With the likes of Peyton Bowen, Kendal Daniels, and Courtland Guillory poised to make Arnold's day difficult, Heisman Trophy odds favorite John Mateer should be able to score enough to cover. The Sooners are No. 21 in SP+ on offense thanks to Mateer and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle.

In a game that I expect to be more about the defenses than the transfer QBs, the Sooners have the clear advantage."
