"Both teams come into the season with College Football Playoff odds aspirations behind their superstar quarterbacks. The Heisman Trophy odds favorites are each surrounded by an abundance of talent, with Clemson ranked 10th and LSU ranked 11th in SP+.

The difference between the two sides is the continuity. Clemson returns several key pieces, including its top wideouts, to complement Cade Klubnik. LSU is tasked with overhauling its offensive line and receiving corps around Garrett Nussmeier, and is looking for Blake Baker to take a leap in his second year as DC.

My LSU vs. Clemson early predictions back the visitors to keep it closer than the spread suggests because of the plethora of playmakers at Nussmeier's disposal. Dabo Swinney's team has a 47.4% cover rate as a home favorite over the last three seasons, whereas Brian Kelly's boys are 5-5 ATS as underdogs."
