    Jim Leavitt Fired from USF
Another mistreatment of players firing similar to Leach at Tech.

South Florida fired football coach Jim Leavitt after a school investigation concluded he grabbed one of his players by the throat, slapped him in the face and then lied about it.

I think this was just a convient excuse to get rid of a coach who simply could not win in the clutch. USF's late season choke jobs cost him his job. They started out 5-0 twice, and 6-0 once, yet never won their conference championship. They never lost less than 4 games in any season after those great starts. This firing was coming.

Rooting for Michigan OC Calvin McGee to get the job.

Lots of ties to the school / area.

I wish this had happened before the Cincy job was filled.

The starting quarterback blew out his knee in I think the 3rd game of the season so it was a redshirt freshman the rest of the season. A very talented freshman with loads of potential, but I think there were several games that might have gone the other way with a veteran quarterback. I'm not sticking up for the coach's actions. He should have been fired.

This program is eons ahead of schedule (thanks in large part to their conference affiliation). 9 years in FBS and they're already averaging 8-9 win seasons + 47K at their games.

VERY attractive job. Might be the most attractive in the Big East. Going to be very interesting to see what kind of coach they can lure here.

I think he will not be coaching for any FBS team real soon. He developed a program, but could not take it to the next step. Notice that he and his entire staff were fired. That tells me that the alleged incident only served as icing on the cake. This guy could not win in crunch time.

Agreed, I'm sure that he will be atop FIU's list of candidates in 2011.

Mario Cristobal is gone unless they win 6-7 games.

Leavitt will get a job in 2010, he proved he can build.
