Kind of think texas comes out loose and may even take the lead into the half. Expect Alabama to take over and own the second half and pull away to a relative easy cover and win.

Texas looks for title No. 5, Alabama No. 13.
Call it the Great Granddaddy of 'Em All as Alabama and Texas battle for the BCS in Pasadena.

I'm thinking that if Alabama's defense holds to form, then we're looking at a low scoring Bama win, but if the Longhorns offense is clicking to form, then the Tide is in trouble. JMO. Like many games, Turnovers will most likely decide the outcome.

Don't think you can beat a Team like bama without being able to run the ball. I think Texas is in for a shock when they get a taste of Mr. Ingram and Mr. Richardson.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- The "clutter" is cleaned up.
The infernal background noise that goes along with playing the game, bothers Alabama coach Nick Saban to no end. Anything that doesn't involve practice or games -- meet and greets, boosters, media -- he refers to as clutter.
Finally, The Sabanator has his way. Hours away from the BCS championship game, we can finally focus on football. Two top defenses against, at times, spotty offenses. Two coaches who live life and approach the game in different ways.
In the end, it is two superpowers clashing on the game's biggest stage. If Jan. 1's Rose Bowl was the Granddaddy of them all, this is the Great Granddaddy?
What to watch for when Alabama meets Texas:
When Alabama has the ball: Obviously, it starts with Heisman winner Mark Ingram at tailback. But stopping Ingram doesn't necessarily mean Texas will win. It's really a three-headed monster in the backfield with freshman Trent Richardson and senior Roy Upchurch getting carries. Ingram is the leader because he is one of the few backs in the countries who can run effectively between the tackles. No frills. No spread option. Ingram has a future in the NFL because he is the top producer in this NFL-style offense.
He is the complete package because he can break tackles, block and also catch passes. His 69-yard catch and run of a screen pass in the SEC Championship Game might have won him the Heisman.
Oh, and he doesn't fumble. One lost fumble in 429 career touches.
For a large part of the season, quarterback Greg McElroy was a facilitator, staying out of the way of Ingram and Co. During a four-game stretch in the middle of the season, McElroy threw for 148 yards or less each time out. Was it the offense bogging down around him or was McElroy slowing it down?
Whatever the case, the California-born, Texas-raised quarterback is at the top of his game. Saban surprised Florida by coming out throwing with McElroy who completed 12 of 18 for 239 yards against the Gators.
Saban knows that McElroy will have to be a weapon against the nation's No. 2 rush defense. Texas' best shot is to pressure McElroy into a couple of turnovers and make 'Bama play from behind.
It could happen but the game plan will be to regularly pound the middle of the Texas line. Typically, opponents are softened up enough by the fourth quarter that the Tide are rolling.
Intangibles: Alabama's defense needs a big play early to keep Texas' offense from thinking it can hang with the Tide. 'Bama is smashmouth all the way on both sides of the line. Texas' is a finesse offense.
Linebacker Rolando McClain has been bothered by a virus but Saban says he's ready to go. If not, Texas all the sudden gets a huge advantage. McClain is one of those sideline-to-sideline homewreckers.
Surprises: No one is talking about receiver Julio Jones. After a freshman All-America season in 2008, Jones struggled for long periods this season. His catches, yards and average per catch were all down in 2009. He still might be the best athlete on the field. Jones has the height to go get the ball against any secondary and the speed to break away.
Look for J.J. to get involved early. He is the Tide's best home run threat.
When Texas has the ball: It begins with Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley playing catch. Shipley, who missed two full seasons with injuries, has become a go-to receiver not just a slot guy.
Offensive coordinator Greg Davis devises schemes to get Shipley open in space. The senior's superior abilities make up for the lack of a serviceable running game -- against most teams. One of the key matchups of this game will see how the physical Alabama defense handles the 'Horns.
Alabama's best corner, Javier Arenas, says he will not follow Shipley all over the field. Texas has speed, but not much experience at the other receiver spots.
Still, it all comes back to the pride of Tuscola, Texas. McCoy will be playing his last college game already the leading passer in school history and winningest quarterback in I-A history. All that's left is a national championship to surpass Vince Young as perhaps the greatest quarterback in Texas history.
Intangibles: It's never good when your running game is an intangible. Texas seemingly has to get something out of an average pack of backs to win this game.
McCoy is the second-leading rusher. Tre Newton is the hot hand of the moment having gained 289 of his 513 yards in the last four games. A healthy McClain would be huge for 'Bama against the run. The idea for the Tide is to get Texas one dimensional as soon as possible. That means Saban and defensive coordinator Kirby Smart can start dictating on defense which leads us to ...
Surprises: Davis knows they're coming, he just doesn't know from where.
Alabama's blitzes are the most complicated and deadly in the game. I called them "snowflake" blitzes early in the week because no two of them are the same. Saban is a master at showing one look and then changing into an entirely difference scheme right before the snap.
All you need to know is Saban won a national championship at LSU six years ago doing the same thing. No one has figured out his blitzes yet.
This is not a good sign with Texas coming off that nine-sack debacle against Nebraska. If it happens again, Alabama has an offense that can capitalize. Nebraska didn't.
Prediction: In the afterglow of Dec. 5, Alabama looked like a two-touchdown lock in this game. The Tide had blown out Florida; Texas struggled with Nebraska.
With a month to prepare, the 'Horns aren't going to be embarrassed offensively again in this game. Look for McCoy to work some quarterback draws to counteract the blitz. It would be wise for Colt to make himself a weapon -- at least 50 yards rushing from him could do it.
Ingram isn't going to necessarily validate the closest Heisman vote in history. Texas' run defense is too good. But if Alabama's D gives its offense a couple of short fields that might be all the Tide need. McElroy tends to stare down Jones too much. As the field shortens it's easier to shut down the 6-foot-4 receiver. He needs to relax and spread the ball around.
Don't forget Texas has intercepted 24 passes, the most in the nation.
This isn't going to be the snoozer it looked like a month ago. It's going to come down to the last half of the fourth quarter. May the best superpower win.
Bama -4 and Under 46 a dime a piece. May take UT 1st quarter or Bama 1st half.
Like em both. Thinking of going big on the under here, as previously stated almost every bowl game has been a punt-fest. Yesterdays game was kind of moosed to over as well.

I do not think this game will be nearly as good as the GMAC bowl last night. That was a real good fun football game, esp. the second half.

Honestly this game is really a rough one to pick. But, hook 'em horns. Why? Two great defenses, two good but, slightly one dimensional offenses. I think Texas prevails in this one by shutting down Bama's running game and making big plays when they need them. Also, if I had to pick between these two QB's in a big game, I'm going to go with McCoy 100% of the time. And then there this little trend...
Heisman trophy winners are 1-6 in BCS National Championship Games.
All this said Texas will be the small play for me.
