The Beavers, who are playing in a bowl game for the ninth time in the last 11 years, they had four defeats on the season, three of which were against nationally-ranked programs. OSU had a chance to claim the title in the Pac-10 Conference when it took on in-state rival Oregon in the regular-season finale, but the 113th Civil War was won by the Ducks by a scant 37-33 margin. The defeat snapped a four-game win streak for Oregon State and delivered the program to the Las Vegas Bowl for the second time, following a 55-14 triumph over New Mexico in the event back in 2003.
When it comes to offense, the Beavers operate behind the one-two punch provided by brothers Jacquizz and James Rodgers. A semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year,
Brother James has already set the OSU single-season record for all-purpose yards with 2,213 yards. This season, James has reeled in 87 catches for 1,004 yards and nine touchdowns, while 'Quizz is second on the unit with 74 grabs for 509 yards, leading to one score. The man getting the ball to the Rodgers brothers is Sean Canfield who connected on 70 percent of his pass attempts for 3,103 yards and 21 touchdowns. More importantly, Canfield threw a mere six interceptions in 406 attempts which means he rarely makes mistakes in the pocket.
The Beavers are middle of the pack in terms of how much they allow opponents, permitting 23.4 points and 352.9 total yards per tilt.
The BYU Cougars on the defensive side of the ball, ranked second-to-last in the league and 102nd in the country in TFLs per game (less than five).
I'll try my chances on the PAC 10 team over the MWC.

Idaho will be making just its second bowl appearance in history when it tackles Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl. The Vandals defeated Southern Miss 42-35 in this game in 1998.
This will be the first meeting ever between the Vandals and Falcons.
Bowling Green is 4-3 in 7 previous bowl games and is making its fourth bowl trip since 2003. The Falcons' last postseason game was two years ago, a nightmarish 63-7 destruction at the hands of Tulsa in the GMAC Bowl.
Idaho began the 2009 season by rocketing to 6-1 start, but went 1-4 down the stretch. The first seven games were against a weak slate that included only one team - Northern Illinois - that finished the season with a winning record. The last five included Boise State, Fresno State and Nevada, but the Vandals also lost to Utah State (4-8).
All five of Bowling Green's losses were to bowl teams, and three were to Missouri, Boise State and Central Michigan which combined to go 32-6. The Falcons didn't play Northern Illinois, even though they reside in the same conference.
The Bowling Green passing attack could be in for a field day against Idaho's defense. The Vandals allowed 35.5 points per game to rank 112th nationally, and their pass defense ranks 114th.
BGSU's 8th-ranked passing offense is highlighted by CFP and FWAA All-American wide receiver Freddie Barnes who leads the nation with 138 catches - 31 more than than the No. 2 receiver on the list. QB Tyler Sheehan has thrown 23 TD passes and 6 INT's, and ranks 4th nationally in passing yards with 3,664.
Idaho's passing attack ranks 11th, but the Falcons are No. 34 in fewest passing yards allowed.

Air Force lost one game all year by more than 7 points and that was a 38-21 setback at BYU in the season finale. The Air Force defense held everyone else to 23 points or less, and 8 teams were held to 17 points or less. The Falcons rank 3rd nationally in rushing offense while the Cougars rank 112th against the run. Houston boasts the top passer in QB Case Keenum, but he was No. 2 last year. Air Force has the nation's top-ranked pass defense. These teams met last year in the same postseason game and Houston won 34-28.
MIZZOU -6.5
Missouri's 12th-ranked run defense goes against Navy's No. 4 rushing offense. The Tigers won 4 of their last 5 games after getting overrun by Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Texas in the middle of the season. Navy has lost its last three bowl games while Missouri has won 4 of its last 6.
