    Satisfied with BCS?
Seriously, I've been watching college football very closely over the last 10 or so years, and I never thought it was THAT bad...until this year...

but this year's a freaking disaster.

You'd have to be a moron to actually believe Texas is the number two team in the country after eeking out a 3 point win vs Oklahoma (without Bradford) and beating Nebraska because the cheap ass Big 12 refs put a second on the clock so they could kick a field goal...

TCU would DESTROY Texas...no doubt about it...Colt McCoy's had an awful year, the defense isn't that good, and TCU's an offensive juggernaut, they're seriously unstoppable...

Texas is on Cincinatti's level, pretty good but with many weaknesses.

And who the hell wants to see Boise State vs TCU again? last year's game was a terrible game for how close it was...at least give these teams a chance to embarrass the BCS like Utah did to Bama last year or Boise did to Chokelahoma a few years back...

as a college football fan, this is the worst the BCS has ever screwed up.

Obviously the BCS is trying to cover it's ass by allowing two non-BCS teams into BCS games, even if it is the same game. What will interest me is this. If TCU easily handles Boise, and 'Bama defeates Texas, some idiot Texas Congressman will obviously raise hell about TCU not being in a Championship game, but if Texas wins. would the same complaint be made or heard?

You can blame ABC/ESPN for all of this. They went along and signed on to televise all of the BCS games without a playoff system. Now the possibility looms that they can be stuck with games like we will have this year. Let's examine the games and the excuses. First, you have all the two loss team bundled into two bowls, and the zero and one loss teams in the other bowls. So two Bowls are basically wasted games. The Rose Bowl is tradition and may draw a T.V. audience, but the Oragne Bowl, being played on a Tuesday Night, will not draw flies. Now you have the one loss team, Florida, facing the team that could be coachless, in Cincy. Both teams with excellent records, but do you really want to listen to a couple of announcers slobering all over the feats of Tim (cry me a river) Tebow and how Brian Kelly will turn the Irish around, even though they do not have any good players coming back? Who wants to see this game after watching 4 other Bowl games that willl probably be better. Then you have 4 undefeateds playing each other. You have the BCS Championship game and the Non-BCS Championship game. Unfortunately for the Non-BCS championship, 30 Bowl games will have already been played, as well as 16 Monday Night Pro games, as well as people returning back to work, so no one will watch. That leaves the BCS Championship game, which could be over by halftime. But because ABC/ESPN sign on for more of the same, that is what we will get. If you want this to change STOP WATCHING THE GAMES. Do you think that anyone is going to give a crap about how things are done if people continue to watch? Hello???

They played the other team last year and lost. Nothing will change this year. Just a worse beating. The line jumped from TCU -4 to TCU -8 in a big hurry in Vegas.

that game is a cop out, they made them play each other just so they wouldn't have to put non-bcs teams in 2 bcs bowl games.

Really wanted to see both TCU and Boise against teams from BCS conf's. Both winning, a very likely outcome, would be an embarrassment to the BCS big boys. As a fan, I am disgusted they have to play each other.

Texas' non-conf schedule --- Wyo, Utep, UCF, La Monroe ---- not even one game against someone from another BCS conf. What a joke.

Can you imagine how fun it would be to watch an 8 team playoff this year!?!? First round....Bama vs Ohio St, Texas vs Oregon, Cincy vs Boise, TCU vs Florida....would be huge ratings and easy sellouts for the venues with the travel of these fan bases. Oh well, a guy can dream right??

Well don't worry too much about it boys, certainly isnt anything to lose sleep over. Besides, your wonderful hard-working Congress is coming to your rescue (story/link) below.

It's never going to be perfect. As I've said so often before, you can't get a true playoff system in place until you have everyone in a conference and some system in place to decide schedules. Can you imagine if MLB told the Yankees they had to play 72 games against the other four teams in the AL East, another 50 games vs. the rest of the AL and then allowed them to decided the rest of their 'out of AL schedule?'

Put eight teams into a playoff and you will still need something to decide which eight teams they are, leaving No. 9 to bitch and moan.

Say there were eight teams this year and Ohio State beats 'Bama while Oregon trips up Texas in the first round. Eventually the Gators win it and someone complains that they don't deserve it since they didn't even win their own conference championship.

All I know is what we have right now is a thousand fold better than what we used to have when the bowls were tied into specific conferences.

A House subcommittee has approved legislation aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine a national champion.

WASHINGTON -- A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress has meatier targets to tackle.

The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff. The measure passed by voice vote in a House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee, with one audible "no," from Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga.

"With all due respect, I really think we have more important things to spend our time on," Barrow said before the vote, although he stressed he didn't like the current Bowl Championship Series, either.

The BCS selections announced last weekend pit two unbeaten teams, No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Texas, in the Jan. 7 national title game. Three other undefeated teams -- TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State -- will play in a BCS bowl game, but not for the championship.

"What can we say -- it's December and the BCS is in chaos again," said the bill's sponsor, Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the top Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He said the BCS system is unfair and won't change unless prompted by Congress.

WHEN all the bowls were tied into specific conferences? Just what do you think you have now? The BCS is tied into 6 conferences, and NO other team outside of those conferences has a shot. To be honest, it is actually 4 conferences (Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, and SEC). Ther rest of the bowls are still tied in.

DaddyQH, I'm talking about when what were then the four big bowls -- Cotton, Orange, Rose and Sugar -- had contracts to take winners of the bigger conferences. Big Ten/Pac-10 always in the Rose Bowl, the SWC champ vs an independent, the Big 8 in the Orange and the SEC in the Sugar.

Well, I honestly wish Congress would leave sports alone. . .I mean, they do such a great job with everything else.

It would take an 8 team playoff for everything to work out. This year, with 5 undefeateds, is a prime example of why +1 isn't enough.
