    UNKNOWN CAPPER'S WEEK 12 Picks...Entertainment Purposes Only
WARNING: The following prognostications are for entertainment purposes only. Placing real wagers based on the selections below could result in one or more of the following:

Bankruptcy, home foreclosure, car impoundment, bounced checks, over-withdrawal bank fees, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, depression, uncontrollable rage, and/or suicidal/homicidal tendencies.

Admittedly, these past 3 weeks of college football have not gone as planned. The Unknown Capper has felt the wrath of his haters, and the lesser wrath of his followers. This week, I've been spending my time on college hoops, and am just now looking at the football lines. I'm actually doing quite well in b-ball, and you may actually win some money reading those threads. But now, I have to figure out my plan to win money in football this week....

I will only play 5 games. I'm going to narrow down the games to a short list of nominees, and then choose 5 from that. These are my leans...

    Clemson -21
    Northwestern +7
    Iowa -10
    Iowa/Minnesota Under 44
    N. Carolina +3.5
    Vandy +17
    Kentucky +8
    TCU -31
    Oregon St. -31
    Air Force +10
    UAB +12.5

I have to redeem myself this week. I will research these games, and come up with 5 strong picks. I'm due, baby. Picks to come in the next couple of days...

I don't know, Wazzu is so awful this one could easily be 31-0 at halftime.

Iowa under 44 is a poor play. Their total was 51 last week against Ohio State, a team with a better defense and worse offense then Minnesota. Minnesota has scored over 20 in 8 of their 11 games so far, and has given up 20 or more in 9 out of their 11 games.

North Carolina is also very "iffy". They will be in let down mode, going on the road after a major upset of Miami. Boston College is still in the ACC Atlantic hunt, and has not lost a game at home this year.

Northwestern is a real puzzler. They have lost more Big 10 games at home this season than on the road. Remember Wisconsin still has an outside chance at a BCS game,if they win and both Iowa and Penn State lose. Tough call on that game.

Clemson is giving away a lot of points, but has a lot to play for, namely the above mentioned ACC Atlantic title. They are also 7-2 ATS this season. They should rout Virginia and send a message to Ga. Tech.

Northwestern has made me some money this yr. so i'm liking them a lot. Wisc. hasn't really beaten a top notch team either. As for the Iowa Under, If Minnesota couldn't do jack against S. Dakota St. offensively, Iowa may completely shut them down, especially without Decker. I won't make a Total an official selection though, that was just a passing thought.

Alright I'm ready. I've got my 5 selections. 4-1. I can feel it. Mock me, humiliate me, tease me, threaten my mother, whatever. Do as you will. I have a thick body of armor. It's called arrogance. Nothing gets by it. Let's roll...

                PICK #1

                CLEMSON -21 vs. Virginia
Virginia is definitely in 'throw-in-the-towel' mode. They've lost 4 straight and couldn't do a bloody thing on offense last week vs. BC. UVa's lame-duck HC Al Groh is an even lamer duck than that lame-ass duck from the movie 'Howard the Duck.' Clemson, on the other hand, advances to the ACC Championship game with a win, and a shot at an undeserving BCS Bowl berth against a team that will clobber them. Clemson has won 5 straight, scoring 38 pts or more in each win. CJ Spiller is a sleeper Heisman candidate, and QB Kyle Parker has turned it up a notch after a shaky start to the year. I hate using the trite phrase 'teams going in opposite directions' but hey, fits pretty well here.

                  PICK #2

                  NORTHWESTERN +7 vs. Wisconsin

Admittedly, Wisconsin has had 2 tough games this year. Iowa and Ohio St. But guess what? They lost those 2 games by a combined score of 51-23. They've had a soft schedule and have quietly turned out an 8-2 record. They've won 2 road games, both against bad teams (Minnesota and Indiana) and both wins were by 3 pts. N'Wrn's defense has looked good the last two games, and Kafka had a great game LW after returning from an injury. Wisconsin lacks a major weapon outside RB John Clay, so NW HC Fitzgerald have have all week to scheme a defense to keep him in check. You don't need to be as smart as a Northwestern Grad to conclude that Northwestern has been too consistent on both sides of the ball to warrant a 7-pt. spread. This one stays close.

                    AIR FORCE +10 @ BYU

BYU has been so enigmatic this year, that I had to look up 'enigmatic' in the dictionary to make sure I used the word in its right context. They shut down Oklahoma's and Tulane's offenses, then allowed 54 pts. to Florida St. They won 4 straight, then laid a big 'ol Mormon egg at home against the non-denominational Christians of TCU. They blew out Wyoming, and barely snuck by a winless New Mexico team LW. AFA, on the other hand, hasn't lost a game by more than 7 points all year, and with a win in this their final game, can have their first 8-win season since 2008. BYU has faced 2 tough defenses this year (TCU and Okla.) and scored a combined 21 points in those 2 games. Air Force has one of the best defenses in the Mountain West, including the #1 pass defense which should give Max Hall fits all day. AFA can probably win this game straight up let alone give the U.C. Nation an easy cover.

                      KENTUCKY +8 @ Georgia
Because MArk Richt has built a solid reputation and made the name "Georgia" a lucrative bet on game day, lots of idiot sucker gamblers (like myself) have taken the bait and bet on Georgia a few too many times this year. In reality though, they are simply a mediocre SEC team with a weak conference schedule avoiding Alabama and Ole Miss from the SEC West. Kentucky has been pleasantly mediocre this year and also has 6-wins thanks to an easy non-conference slate. Statistically, there's nothing that stands out as a 'game-changing' angle. Kentucky can't pass, UGa can't stop the pass. Georgia can't run, UK can't stop the run. Rich Brooks had a trunk of trick plays when he coached the Rams when they first moved to St. Louis. Keep an eye out on multi-talented Randall Cobb to maybe air it out on some sort of flea-flicker reverse nonsense play. Georgia has clinched 2nd place in the SEC east, and has a bigger bout vs. rival Ga. Tech next week. They can very easily overlook Kentucky team that is trying to up their bowl appeal.

                        UAB +12.5 @ E. Carolina
UAB has quietly gotten hot and has won 3-straight, and can actually move into 1st place in the C-USA East with a win. This has gone unnoticed because after all, it's the Conference USA, and nobody cares, despite the Patriotic acronym. I did some research and USA actually stands for Usually Subpar Athletics. Excluding, of course, Memphis basketball which has already mathematically clinced the C-USA title through 2012-13. Neither UAB or ECU can pass the ball, so this game will be won or lost on the ground. In a game between 2 solid running teams, turnovers often decide the outcome. UAB has only fumbled 4 times all year and have the best TO margin in the league. Plus, ECU had one less day to prepare, after playing Sunday night. UAB is hot right now, and is playing with confidence. This one stays close.

I really Like this pick , the mumbo jumbo doesnt have much to do with it

Airforce took tcu and Utah into over time , they are a scrappy team that doens know how to lose or worse they hate losing
they picked up an air attack , that feats their field position much better on turnovers , punts etc where as early on they played for filed position as they now are putting up big numbers for their standards

Air force +10.5 was an early play here , had some weather coming in I was aware about that should play into AF advantage

i ve got em big on a teaser at +20 with 2 other teams

this one I had kentucky all the way
after several takes on this one
Kentucky just isnt the same team anymore
                              matchups they look even
but looking much further into it
they have no passing threat right now
they could throw against vandy at all last week granted they didnt have to but never the less they couldnt
kentucky still confused with their qb situation subbing in and put last week

were n able to do anything from the playbook they will need this week against georgia
This one at 8 not enough to carry the spread for kentucky
eventually georgia boxes in the front and shuts em down

Yeah, the AFA is a solid pick. There's nothing that suggests they lose by more than 10 points. The Kentucky line shot up from 8 to 9.5 within 2 hours of me placing my bet, so somethings going on. I just don't think Georgia is really any good, and thats where my play pretty much derived from. I agree though, If Kentucky can't pass, they're screwed, but UGa's pass defense blows.

The problem with the Air Force play is that everyone is on them, yet there has been little, if any movement. Always a red flag.

We middled the Wisky game, going with Wisky -4 on the lead line, and taking Northwestern +7.5 when the line got that high. We can see a Wisky win by 7 here. The line is about right.

Clemson can route Virginia. UVA has scored 53 points in their last 4 games while giving up 136 points. Clemson is going for the ACC Atlantic Division title. The only way I see UVA in this game at all is if Clemson turns the ball over.

Pass on the rest. I see no real value in any of those games.

From what I see it is right at 50-50 and the line has gone up 2 points. If anything there is more money on BYU.

I'm not too worried about line movement for that game. As a stated before, AFA hasn't lost by more than 7 pts all year, and that includes TCU. They're a solid team, and BYU has been ineffective against good defenses

The side has been 10 for a couple of days now in Vegas. Not much movement, though the Venetian has bumped it to 10.5. The problem for the Air Force is that they always throw in a clunker against BYU. They are 0-5 both S/U and ATS in their last 5 meetings. Perhaps that is why this line is not lower.

Just watched the SBR Week 12 Video. Is there a bigger waste of time out there?

Lately it has tailed off. No picks given really. I like the Dr. Bob ones better. I dont like his picks, but he gives interesting perspective.

I just started watching a few weeks ago. I wonder how much they get paid.

Damnit. None of my picks are early games. Gotta love the Mich./Ohio St. rivalry though. I hate both teams and still look forward to this game.

Like I said. Air Force always lays an egg against BYU. Today was no different. It seems as if half of the people who post in here lost on that game. I did not see one perrson taking BYU.
