I have to say, this line is just way too low. Even with thenHuskers playing on the road, they should be a 10 point favorite in this spot. I am telling you right now, the Cornhuskers will beat Missouri by double digits.
These two teams both have a lot of history, but they have both been down from their glory years in the recent past. The Huskers are back and Missouri is not.
Nebraska comes into this game with a 3-1 record losing a game to a good VT team that they definitly should have won. Nebraska has scored 40 points per game this year and has only given up 7 points per game. That is amazing, even considering the schedule that they have played.
People look at Nebraska and dismiss what they have done this year by saying "they haven't played anyone". But is that really true ? Nebraska beat Fla Atlantic by 46 points. No other team all year long has beaten Fla Atlantic by even half that. Nebraska Beat Arkansas State by 29. No other team all year has beaten Ark State by more than 3 points. Iowa only beat Ark State by 3. Ark State is WAY better then people realize, beating them by 29 points is impressive.
Nebrasks beat La Lafayette by 55 points. No other team has beaten La Lafayette by half that. LSU beat them by 28. La Lafayette beat KANSAS State. Sure, Kansas State is down the last few years, but still these teams Nebraska has been destroying are better than people know.
Missouri has played cupcakes all year long and has struggled with them. Ok, they are 4-0 but it hasnt been easy. Missouri was trailing in the 4th quarter at home against Bowling Green. Missouri's only impressive win was 38-9 over Illinios, and I dont think Illinios is that good.
The real reason that I know the Cornhuskers are going to roll though is that Nebraska has a two dimensional offense, and Missouri has a QB who has to do it all. Missouri cant run the ball against anyone and Nebraska has stopped everyone on the ground. You might be able to get away with a one dimensional offense against Furman, but you cant against the big boys like Nebraska.
Missouri ran the ball for 117 yards against Illinios, for 78 yards against Nevada, for 161 against Bowling Green. Ohio University rushed for 225 against Bowling Green. The Huskers held Virginia Tech to 86 yards rushing. The Huskers have only given up 110 yards per game on the ground. The Cornhuskers are gonna expose and abuse the fact the Missouri cant run the ball and must depend on the passing game.
On the offense, Nebraska has one of the best running backs in the game. Roy Helu Jr. Has rushed for 464 yards this year. That is about the same as the Missouri team has. Helu Jr has a 6.4 yards per rush average, while the Missouri Tigers have a 3.6 yards per rush average. The Nebraska running game also features Burkhead, so the Tigers have to defend against two capable runners. They also have to worry about Nebraska QB Zac Lee who has almost 1000 yards this year. ( 68-105 927 yards).
The Tigers defense has given up points to much much weaker offense than Nebraska's, so I have no doubt that Nebraska is gonna score a good deal of points tonight. Bowling Green got 20 and Nevada got 21 both at Columbia. I say Nebraska gets 30 pretty easily, and that will be more than enough to win this game by double digits, because Missouri's passing game alone isnt going to see 20 against this Nebraska defense.
