    SweetPete's Picks/WriteUps Thursday 9/3

And so begins another season of college football. I love the games early in the year because a lot of the lines reflect last year's results and if you do enough pre-season research, you can find some great value. Theoretically I plan on being more conservative wit hmy picks this year, and use better money management. Then again, I told my last girlfriend I'd always love her, and, well, she ain't around anymore. So here we go. The new and improved SweetPete's picks '09.

NC STATE ML (-205) vs S. Carolina
    2 Units
That's what I mean by being more conservative. NC State has the revenge factor from last years beat down, a better coach (Tom O' Brien vs. the over-rated Steve Spurrier), a better team, and home advantage. So, everything points to a solid win. BUT, early season jitters and unforeseen intangibles make me wary of laying 5 points with a team that lost 34-0 to the same opponent a year ago. NC St. should win big, but we'll play it safe with a ML bet. NC St. 27-17

BOISE ST. ML (-175) vs. Oregon
    2 Units
I swear I won't just be selecting MLs all year. It's never a smart move to bet against Boise St. on the smurf turf, but Oregon will be one of the highest profile programs ever to make the trek to Boise. Both teams have key losses including each teams top RB, but until a visiting team can prove they can win on the blue turf, ya gotta go with the Broncs. I just don't trust them laying more than a FG. On a side note, if Oregon wears one of those funky green and yellow uniforms, combined with the blue and orange of the stadium should create a colorful extravaganza. Boise St. 34-31

GL Everyone! Saturday's selections to be posted soon!
